Blind? Assuming there is no silver content, and the £5 coins are still legal tender, £35

I'm not going in blind. Waiting for her to give me pictures. She's adamant that they're worth over £350.

It all depends on the pre decimal.I would take a stab at the other (junk?) at £50.

To part with £350 for a collection which includes a biscuit tin I would worry.

Yeah, She claims it was her grandfathers, who passed away some time in the past. And her grandmother just wants rid of them so wants £170 for them.

The pictures she gave weren't too great either.

The pictures she gave are in the link I've put below (The forum wont let me post many pictures):

AAARG...The dreaded Westminster collection.Basically worthless.

The key is the predecimal stuff...and I will wager it will be rubbish. :(

It is up to you at the end of the day and a £170 punt might pay off.

I'm going to ask for detailed pictures of the predecimals. I wouldn't even consider paying £170 without seeing them all. I wouldn't even want to go take the trip to her house without first seeing.

At the front of the currency is a British Forces banknote and they aren't even worth face value in Unc. Would you like to borrow a bargepole?

Told you you'd get plenty of assistance with that one on here, looks like a stay-clear! Will reply to your PM later! :)

That you did! and That I will! Thanks for the advice.

Yes, I'd echo the advice you've got. Basically, modern commems are a drag on the market - the dear old lady probably carefully looked up the total value in Spink, not realising that no-one apart from people paying full Royal Mint issue price comes even close to those quoted prices. Shame, but there it is.

Do have a look at the predecimals - she may have thought them grubby and worthless, so ignored them. But the sight of those bank bags is depressing enough ...

Yeah. I thought that when i saw them all in bags. Wondered why there were cases only for the coins to be put in bags. Looking forward to my first coin (aside from the cleaned ones). Ordered a 1901 aunc penny from the main site.

Lol, "she claims they're worth £350" she knows a lot about Coins then ;)

She can't take pictures, hmm. No more interest there.

Looking forward to my coin from Chris.
