I tried changing the resolution but that didn't help. How am I supposed to crop and tweak images now, quite annoying.Any suggestions? Quote

It might reveal some options there.What model laptop and what graphics card do you have? Quote

I presume it's currently configured for widescreen movies? You need to change the aspect ratio, rather than the resolution, though both are usually linked together. Is it Windows or Mac? It appears to be the native size of the display and gives the same aspect ratio as full HD (1920x1080).Make sure that you have the correct driver for the display (should be downloadable from Dell). Otherwise a generic driver will be used and the resulting image may well be scaled incorrectly. Quote

It appears to be the native size of the display and gives the same aspect ratio as full HD (1920x1080).Wide screen aspect ratio is normally 16:9 so resolution 1366x768 will work. Some screens are 16:10 which would be an aspect ratio of 1366x850 and as that is not an selectable option 1366x768 is the one to use. As this is a new laptop then the drivers should be suitable and do not need to be messed with. Quote

Sorry I should have clarified, it's new to me but in fact its second hand. So I guess my first port of call is to try and install the drivers. Remember the good old not so old days when all TVs you saw in public showed s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d pictures because the people using them were too stupid to realise that the Widescreen setting should only be used for programmes transmitted in widescreen?Not that I'm saying you're stupid!! I've never ever seen this problem on a computer, it sounds like a faulty graphics setting perhaps? Quote
