Thanks.

Lot 2021, an 1858 large rose penny, is not a small date.

Wow, way too many gold and bullion recent issues. I just don't get the absolute madness over the rehashed Three Graces and Una. Would hate to be trapped into them for big money. Where are the numismatic issues?

I saw precious little of currency Vicky silver of quality and actually "nada para me".

Have LCA stopped sending out printed catalogues?? I never received one for the March auction and have yet to do so this time too.

I much prefer browsing through a proper catalogue than squinting at one on a device...

Needless to say, if they have stopped sending catalogues to customers of many years on their mailing list. they haven't deigned to tell me!

They stopped sending me catalogues too after I had gone a few auctions without buying. I suppose the expense is prohibitive if they feel a sale is unlikely. Which it is, given their current offerings.

Funnily enough, I received one yesterday. But it's inconsistent and patchy. Sometimes I get one. More often I don't.

For what it is worth, I haven't received a paper catalogue for several years now, yet I regularly buy from them, albeit I'm not a big spender, so the decision to send or not to send is not based on regular purchases or not.

Did anybody win any lots over the weekend? In particular who got the 1922 reverse of 1927, F192A? Sadly a bridge too far for me financially, on this occasion.

Nonetheless, I'm pleased to say that I won lot 2009, the 1831 no ww penny in about UNC with subdued lustre for £360, and lot 2036, the Freeman 169 1909 penny for £750.

The Freeman 169 is interesting in that the vast majority of specimens are virtually identical in grade, at just sub fine. Although there are a couple of better specimens, which may have been better value than mine. However, I am gratified to the extent that when the same coin originally sold at LCA in March 2013, it went for £1600. Maybe at a time when it was thought to be of a more extreme rarity than now.

Tidy example Mike, I'd be pleased with that. :)
