Neutral feedback, do you leave it?

I had two proofs arrive today. Nothing expensive, just 1983 & 84 two pence proofs. Problem is, one was in a bank style plastic 2 x 2 with the black back. The other was sent bare. Sellotaped to the 2 x 2. I left neutral feedback with a message not to f**k up coins in the same way in future. Sure the coins I bought cost nothing, but what if the seller got hold of something reasonable?

This one has come up a few times recently, putting tape directly on a coin is such a no go and it pains me when I see it.

Definitely one that they must learn from, it almost renders the coin as 'item not as described' as deserves a refund, if it's worth the inconvenience.

Initially I would contact the seller and explain that tape is a no go, if they then offer to take it back I wouldn't leave a neutral, I' probably not leave a feedback incase I got carried away

I've had tape across coins before but it's always from someone who doesn't know better (doesn't sell many coins or sells coins even though they're not a collector) so I let it slide.

I've never had it across a proof though and that would be pretty annoying.

I always either leave positive feedback, or no feedback at all. The reason for this is to have 100% positive feedback to sellers so that if I make an offer on a coin, it's more likely to be accepted than if I look like a potentially awkward customer.

That said, I've sometimes had good reason to leave a negative.

In this case, I'd just contact the seller, who may just be ignorant of coin etiquette, and remind them of the need to treat coins with respect, use paper envelopes for all of them, and most definitely avoid sellotaping the coin itself.

I've left neutral in the past. Someone sent me a 'high grade' piece which had the contrast sufficiently reduced to remove the scratches. I left neutral pointing out that it was hopelessly overgraded, but to his credit he did at least give a refund. He just left me a negative with no explanation.

What is wrong with people? If you are intent on selling s***e, don't call it what it isn't. You can't polish a turd. If it is crap, say so. And if someone isn't happy, put yourself in their position.

Unfortunately some sellers are just greedy and have know morals at all.

They are just interested in themselves and not bothered about anyone else.
