  1. Hi Kev Welcome to the forum. You will find everyone very helpful. What do you collect in coins.
  2. It depends on what year set you go for for 1937 it's 10 coins unless you go for the proof set as well. Most of the later sets I try to go for as near to uncirculated as I can find. On earlier sets it may not be possible to get them as close to uncirculated. Then I try to get them in EF or as close as.
  3. My next step is to move on to a denomination set of 1937 as this has a Crown in the set as well. I don't think this will take me too long as I already have 4 of the coins and have ordered 5 others only need to find a decent Crown in UNC condition at a reasonable price. Where I go from there is anyone's guess I do have a few gaps in my sixpences I need to fill between 1936 and 1970, I may go onto them.
  4. Well everyone I have now completed my 1935 set of Denomination coins with this one off of eBay. Thanks to everyone that helped me, you know who you are. I have now to move on to the next set. I am happy with this nice and crisp and at last am getting better photo's although still struggling to get decent ones of the silver coins.

  6. I recently went to post pictures in the gallery and wanted to have my own folder. It seems you cannot do this, I managed to post pictures but not in a folder. Is there anyway I am able to create a Folder and the add pictures to it.
  7. Try this link for a full list and values it may help. http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/index.html Also I think you could do better than that coin 1887 Jubilee coins are quite easy to find in really nice condition. This one is better http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALMOST-UNCIRCULATED-1887-Threepence-Coin-Silver-925-Victoria-/232490219024?hash=item36217f3610:g:ap8AAOSwOS1ZvPaI and this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1887-QUEEN-VICTORIA-GREAT-BRITAIN-SILVER-THREEPENCE-THREE-PENCE-3D-COIN-/362091777048?hash=item544e5a0c18:g:iYwAAOSwCY9ZrPcS
  8. Hi Barnzy welcome to the forum. Where do I start, well firstly do not do what I did when I first started buy anything that you first see. I did this and a lot of those early coins I bought I am struggling to get rid off. Take the advice from members on here who know their stuff as I did. Perhaps choose an era that means something too you. Once I had calmed down and stopped buying rubbish I decided to try and collect date runs from my grandmother birth date to my birth date from 1899 to 1951, it started off well and then I realised I just could not afford to buy every single coin of each denomination without a lottery win. I then decided to perhaps get each coin from a particular year which is where I started again with 1899 so collected the Crown coin through to the Farthing. I then moved on to 1951 and did the same. But in the end it is your choice. One bit of advice given to me from members of the forum and I stick to it, is to buy the best quality of coin you can afford at the time. With help from other members on here my collecting practices have improved and I am now happy with what I collect. Bet yourself a coin price Guide and a book on Grading coins will help also. Don't worry about asking stupid questions on the forum we all had to start somewhere, good luck with your collecting.
  9. Its a very good book if you want to know about grading. It also helps you to know what to look out for when grading your own coins for your records. Its also good to know what to look out for when buying coins for the collection to see if your seller is selling you the correct grade.I found it invaluable when I first started. It really does help you understand what to look for in a good coin. If interested PM me your address and I will send you a few spare coins I have. They will not be top notch but it will give you some examples as to grades etc.
  10. Hi Pete welcome to the forum. I use these albums http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Numis-coin-album-for-large-coins-and-coin-holders-2x2-/401002408685?hash=item5d5d9b2aed:g:TTkAAOSwMNxXTtbV they are small enough to store away and take these coin holders http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lighthouse-Self-Adhesive-Coin-Holders-2X2-Flips-Quantity-10-25-50-100-All-Sizes/140968489413?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=440119893474&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 which are self seal and you can record the details of the coin enclosed you can buy these in different sizes for the the different denominations of coins. Hope this is of some help. Good luck with you collecting.
  11. Ok thanks for that
  12. Sorry must have missed this post. Thanks for the info but I think I am sorted now for 1935 coins.
  13. The Misc Amount is the VAT on the postage. VAT has been at 20% for some years now since 2012.
  14. They charge you 20% buyers premium and then you have to pay VAT of 20% on that premium for example you bid and win at say £100 add the 20% buyers premium its £120 now add the 20% VAT on the buyers premium you end up with £124 to pay plus postage.
  15. Hi Paul, I did not go for what you were after. And you are correct I have a keeper all being graded at the moment. I went for lot 1471 and 1475 can't wait till they arrive will post pictures sometime.
  16. I did the same for the first time yesterday. I bid £140 +1 which allow them to bid one more bid to £150 if needs be. And like you got it for the higher amount. The estimate was £130 - £150 . As it is the first time I have used this I am not sure how it works. Maybe next time I will bid live.
  17. Thanks for the heads up on this auction. I did mange to bid on two lots and won both so please you posted this. Although that's me spent up now for a few months now.
