  1. Thanks Rob will be in touch.
  2. Thanks Paul I am pleased with it. I still need to find a 1888 Halfpenny, Silver Threepence, Florin, Double Florin, and Crown. So quite a few gap to fill. I do have the 1888/7 Shilling so not sure If I need to look for another 1888 Shilling. I have just filled the gap for the 1888 Farthing pictures below.
  3. Here are original pictures of the 1888 Penny they are better than mine foe a comparison. Thank you I am pleased with it.
  4. Just thought I would add my latest 1888 addition to the collection for your comments. Sorry for the difference in colour its my photo's the reverse is as the obverse in colour I just cannot get my photo's quite right every time.
  5. Hi Rob thanks for that. I will now have to check mine and see if I can spot the over strike. I may post a picture just to verify it with you.
  6. Hi I have just been reading this thread and am interested to know how easy is it to tell the difference as I am collection an 1888 set at the moment. Anyone have both and can post pictures of the difference please. I have bought the 1888/7 from Colin Cook just would like to see what the differences are.
  7. So don't know what you mean Have I got them wrong. Good point I did not think of that. I quite agree with your comments
  8. I have been having a look at this software and I quite like the concept. Did add a couple of coins to it with photos and all seems good. Although there are a few question I would like to ask. Firstly is there any way you can add any other fields to this. The coin grading is not as good as it could be. Could really do with them being expanded or the option of being able to put our own grading terms into the field. These are most of the terms we use in the uk or though there may be others on this forum that will put me right. Grade Category 78 - 100 Uncirculated 75 - 77 Almost Uncirculated 60 - 70 Extremely Fine 40 - 55 Very Fine 20 - 35 Fine 8 - 15 Very Good 1 - 5 Good I also noticed that you had a field of price paid and price sold but not a current value which would help as what you have paid for a coin is not always what its worth i.e you may buy a coin for say £10 at a bargain prive when in reality it may be worth £30. It would also help as a comparison what you paid for the collection and what it maybe worth now. I presume that all the money columns add up the totals for you. But why in the numeric grading column does that add up as it does not need too. It would be useful if you could add your own fields or perhaps I am missing something with the software. If these area's were ironed out I may just go and buy this. Other than that it looks very good.
  9. Hi these were with the last coins submitted for me. And so yes around 5 - 6 weeks
  10. Hi Colin, @Colin G. The grading for the Maundy is as follows: 1d is CGS 85 joint finest known, 2d is CGS 85 Finest Known does not mean much though as its the only one they have slabbed, 3d is CGS 80, 4d CGS 78 Really pleased with them. So thanks again Colin for the opportunity to buy these.
  11. At long last the final few coins from my 1899 set the Maundy coins thanks to @Colin G. for supplying them for me.all have been entombed and graded. Let here what you think guy please.
  12. I have know Idea @Gary D what the 3rd example is, maybe @The Coinery will be along with an explanation or another member with more experience than myself.
  13. Hi Paul it cost me £99 plus postage so worked out and around £106 it's a bit more than I wanted to pay but then again it's a nice coin and it ticks the boxes for my 1888 set. I bought another groat a few days earlier. But in hindsight I didn't realise this one would come up as well, just hope I can get my money back on the other coin which I think I paid a little bit too much for again. Oh well I suppose it's on learning curve but I think it's become a little bit expensive.
  14. It was actually graded at 85 so do you think I paid too much for it.??
  15. No I must confess not my photo's LCGS i'm afraid. Nice addition to replace my other 1888 Groat. Cannot believe I only just bought the other then this one comes along, just had to buy it
  16. Another new one for the 1888 set. Not sure I am quite as happy with this one, another eBay purchase. My pictures don't really do this justice, it does look better. I have graded this as Near EF. Your input welcome please.
  17. Probably not but I would hope she would a least keep the 1899 and 1951 sets to remind herself of her Dad and her Great Grandmother who she never met. As for the others she can sell them or keep them.
  18. To be honest I was just searching for any 1888 coins and came across this Halfcrown. From the pictures I really liked it but I did all the checks I could, even downloading the pictures and enlarging them to try and get more detail. Even then did not take it at face value with a grade of UNC by the seller. It was a BIN price of £100 but with open to offers, so jumped right in and made an offer of what I would have liked to pay for it based on the fact that at worst it would be a grade of EF. I offered £70 for it and with a counter offer from the seller ended up paying £81 plus pp So I thought that was not to bad. The coin arrived today and to be honest if I had seen it in hand I would have been happy with a price of £100. Oh by the way I have only used this seller for the first time, so will be keeping an eye on what they list in future
  19. Thanks for the comment I really like it as well. As to your other comment I am afraid it will get slabbed at some point. As I think I said in previous posts all the coin sets I collect will be entombed to be passed on to my Daughter when I am entombed myself.
  20. There are hairlines to the field shown on the original picture when enlarged or under a magnifying glass, but in hand it looks fine. On the reverse the three lions at the bottom of the coin I have notice that the top lion of the three has a worn face the other are all ok. Would this be due to circulation or a weak strike maybe? Thanks for your opinion it's appreciated Thank Paul I put this down to everyone on here steering me it the right direction. All the advice and help has been invaluable to me thanks Well it does to me as well. Then I am bios as its mine. Whatever anyone grades it at your opinion will always be different especially when buying.
  21. Well I have now started my "Jack The Ripper Set of coins. Below the Halfcrown I recently bought on eBay. I have graded this at between Good EF and almost UNC your views please would be a great help again.I must admit it looks a lot better in hand than the pictures represent. I also manage to find an 1888 Groat 4d as well will have to post pictures of that next.
  22. Love Deep Purple, but as for Def Leppard haven't heard a lot from them so will have to look them up. Any recommended Albums
  23. Slabbing costs £15.95 per coin. I had a friend send them for me and as far as I can recall they were sent on or around 15th Sept and they arrived back with my friend today I think he may have collected them or arrived yesterday. So approx 5 to 6 weeks.
