  1. My F164a was on here posted some years back, it was better than my F164 until this latest find.
  2. Its funny a short while back I remember Mike showing us his new found f164 and saying just how hard it is to find one above EF , and I must admit I was thinking at the time that my own example was only about VF, then low a behold this turns up . A few bag marks , but for £23 .
  3. I believe a high percentage of pre. 1946 [ half silver ] and pre. 1920 [ full silver ] was withdrawn much earlier, but whether it was replaced in large quantities by the cupro-nickel before the final withdrawal I don't know.
  4. I hadn't read that Richard . Interesting
  5. Link below Richard. https://www.rct.uk/collection/443672/edward-viii-pattern-penny
  6. Its those Bunny Pennies Again, they just won't go away.
  7. This is the Royal Mint's Example Richard RMM 52 , below is the blank side and the Rubber Pattern RMM 74. Also I noticed that your example 8 on the Rare coins is the Example held by the Royal Collection Trust . Terry
  8. The only battle ship one I can think of on a penny was the mono faced Edward viii Reverse .
  9. I should have gone to Specsavers.
  10. All right maybe even a ship.
  11. I don't know if its of any interest, but i came across this pattern 1894 penny the other day , and wondered just how iv'e managed to miss it in all my years of collecting , it is after all listed in Freemans on page 233 Plate xiv Pic. B terrible picture though. It looks to be the same reverse as the 2mm 1895 but has an unusual looking boat on the right. http://www.coinfactswiki.com/wiki/Great_Britain_1894_penny_KM-790
  12. Yes I'd say F10 as well
  13. Will he have to pay export duty on top of that to bring it back to the uk . ??
  14. R over A , really, not for me and I think most people will shy away from it as well . We'll all have to wait and see if another clearer example turns up. As to the PFNNY this die fill type often turns up on Victorian pennies . Below is a 1890 .
  15. O don't we all want to find the rare ones, but to put it into perspective , if you add all of the reverse F types the F19 F24 F27 F32 the sum total of 48 coins are at present known, so the rev.F is always Rare , but keep looking there must be more still to be found out there.
  16. I'm not so sure. Though the First 1in the date looks to be to the tooth, other pointers look incorrect . The rim on the 169 is more raised up with the teeth usually intact even on a worn coin, also the space between the 1 and 9 is narrower, and the sea on the right hand side runs onto a tooth where as on the 168 its to the gap between the teeth. sorry.
  17. What a good question, I hadn't thought to look . It has about a 15deg rotation anticlockwise , that would account for the position of the stick on the left and her face on the right being so far off the normally position of die clash marks.
  18. I hadn't noticed before but Interestingly the ghostly outline of Victoria's face can be seen on the right side of the coin.
  19. I have one of this type [pic. below], its the same as yours a 3+d F13 but it must have been made before yours as part of the flag is still visible as a short horizontal line , yours has had more time for the die to clog up and the flag to almost disappear completely . it also has the stick like line running down from Britanniars hand, caused I think by a die clash . I've seen quite a few of these, and I wouldn't think them to be highly sought after and of any great value.
  20. I followed that one too Ian. I've intensified and straightened the pics.
  21. Well Tony Blair [ Labour of course] took us to war in Iraq , propping up Bush's spurious claims of weapons of mass destruction so as to secure oil concessions for US companies I presume , this has of course left us in the west with the problems we now face with Muslims . With the exception of the Attlee government, I have during my seven decades seen the Labour party came to power three times , under Wilson / Wilson-Callaghan / Blair- Brown , and every time they've left us with an economic disaster , and frankly I think it would have been even worse under Corbyn.
  22. I have a few of what you would call dot / comer pennies . and in most cases they are never perfectly round as is the case with the 1897 , and I think this is because they were caused by a crack in the die having small pieces braking away , and then the sharp edges smoothing and rounding off. Though in the case of the 1897 it might be that a sharp pointed object was dropped onto the face of the die, which could leave a cleaner round dot. Below is an unlisted 1934 penny with an extra dot, caused I think by a die crack.
  23. The jury's still out on the 1897 Dot . it was at first thought to be a identification marker , but its now thought to be the result of an indentation made on the top of the die , thereby giving a neat full stop like appearance . As to the Vigtoria Richard doesn't show this close up picture on his site , and as you can see the G looks far to neat in shape to be the result of a die crack, so I would favour the over stamped G made in error as the most likely cause , as the font punch used it could have come from dies used on different denominations or from a foreign coin type being produced at the mint.
  24. When my wife worked in the city back in the 1960s, she had a client with the name of Mr Slocock !! , was this an inherited family problem for them, or not. I do of course mean the name.
