  1. £185 for a proper UNC (PCGS/NGC 65 RD and above) sounds realistic. How can one subscribe to Coin News? Perhaps one needs to be a member of BNTA?
  2. The 1926 penny is a very under-rated year and you seem to have bagged a very high grade dolly there.

  4. The 1904 cost me £100 it was an upgrade on my NGC MS 63 RB, which I swapped for a 1906 NGC 64 RB You don't have to worry about me I won't be bidding on anymore 1904s, unless the market churns out a 65+ RB or 64 RD
  5. Looks like a seller's market Pete as far as the pennies are concerned. Too many buyers and hardly anything around ..... ummm me getting ideas
  6. 3 weeks and only one coin worth adding Good material is getting far too scarce and what's coming to the market is seldom priced realistically.
  7. 6+D it is 1 over 1 is fairly common and Gouby mentions it as a sub in his book. The interesting bit is the groove that is cut on the rocks above the 1. The coin would be worth 40% premium (personal opinion) over the normal 6+D
  8. 1831 crown, Una and the Lion 5 Pounds, 1862 pattern penny with crown
  9. You should be able to get spot rates without hassle. If you are in London let me know and I can have it off you for current spot rate or the rate offered by Transferwise (and pay cash). The holiday season is here and I need 10000 Euros this year for the things I want to do in the continent this year. Transferwise is a really cool service but it can take a few days for the money to be converted. I am looking for the opposite though. I want to convert £ to Euros and to leave it in a savings account. The only Euro accounts you can get in GB charge you tons and pay no interest. Mate of mine suggested flying to Dublin and opening one there as the Irish banks allow UK nationals, with a registered GB address, to hold a Euro account. Sounds apt but does anyone know of another way to do this without me having to travel to Ireland?
  10. Some of the patterns look lush. There are a few drool lots eg https://www.spink.co...?id=15031000367 too. Hardly any bronze though The gold buyers will be cautious in my opinion considering what is lined up for the rest of the year starting with the next St James' Auction. Spoiler alert http://www.stjauctions.com/PARK%20HOUSE%20COLLECTION%20Final%20Approved%20smallest%20size%20file%20COPY.pdf

  12. Possibly. One can't be 100% certain but here's why I thought otherwise. If you observe the obverse closely you will notice that the teeth from 7 o'clock to 11 is short, faint and improperly struck. This could be the result of a platchet fault that prevented an even strike.
  13. Faulty platchet and pretty obvious mint damage (the tail of the second 9 extends to damaged area and the tooths "ok teeth" are unevenly struck) However I personally feel, notwithstanding the platchet damage, classifying it as EF would not be warranted especially with the hairlines on the portrait
  14. Bingo. That,s the one. Cheers Rob
  15. Cheers Peter no its not that one
  16. Cheers Rob it could be Lakeland
  17. Hi Dave, it is not 1818. This is/was a specialist coin/medal auction house. Regards, Prax
  18. There used to be a small coin auction-house in the Lake District 5 or 6 years ago. Does anyone remember its name? It might still be around now.
  19. Pete, I know the grades or quality of the coins that I sent. I know that leaving the coins slabbed will at least protect them from some degree of env/accidental damage (my sole reason for grading). Further I spent lots of money having them graded. With ones I acquired CGS slabbed I noticed that there was not a level of inconsistency gradewise. I wont go into detail on a public forum as it can impact someone's biz. I can send you a pm with specifics. Regards, P
  20. For the mo. I have decided to keep my American TPGed coins entombed. CGS coins that I bought as is are all coming off their capsules only coins I sent for grading personally are still CGS slabbed.
  21. This week's upgrade

  23. I agree with Stu looks like you have stumbled upon something!!!!
  24. Had it been a bronze penny it would have become a new "type". Imagine someone calling the ONF penny a new type. When that can become a new type, I am sure so can this. Given the 3:1 split there are more of this type. Though not my forte still thanks for enlightening the community Paul.
