  1. The tail of the 9 is pretty much on a tooth? Also I don't know if it's just crud but there's something on the loop of the 5 and the top of the 8 as well. Is it a 2mm variety too?
  2. Ah not the plastic over the actual coin then, I see. In which case you can do it as easily as using a circle stencile in paint to crop it (not recommended) up to using photoshop to do it exactly. It depends what programs you've got already on your comp, any photo editing software at all?
  3. Haha We assumed as much. And it really does Pete, it's a pain!
  4. A perfect example of why too, here is my 1913 which is a nice all rounder, but my god look at that fingerprint in the left hand corner. It was just unnecessary to grab it like that, whoever did it.
  5. Agreed Paulus, edge only when I'm handling mine. To be fair, this is probably 'low grade' for Rash when comparing to his other coins
  6. Pete, I don't know of anything that'll do that for you that's going to give you something that looks like the plastic was never there. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong though. I do know that the newest photoshop has a tool to remove unwanted things from pictures, but how well it will work on a slabbed coin, I don't know.
  7. Not just a nice example but also a nice obverse! Thanks for sharing R
  8. Best advice for sure, they'll attribute and market this correctly. Dutchgreener, Accumulator is another penny collector on here and he has an example as well, he is also the best person to talk to regarding these. Here's a link to his profile, send him a PM! Accumulator
  9. They have an Australian number on there too, maybe they're based in Australia but with customer service available in both countries?
  10. Yeah what the hell? The extra e makes it extremely more valuable than the regular ones..
  11. If you ever go to the Midland fair she's always on the London Coins stand, waiting for someone to argue with. Just in case you want to, you know, throw stuff at her or something.
  12. Wow they must be joking right? I'd break that bad boy out and send it to someone else, maybe even send it back to PCGS and hope you don't get the same grumpy b***** again.
  13. Hahahaha Great post, Swanny.
  14. Haha maybe we should all get you to call when we have any problems Pete! SWANNY - This is who your number 2 was, she is well known for the same reasons that she left that impression with you!
  15. I said 1926 ME originally but unlike Rash I go for colon after BRITT to tooth, instead of gap, to check for an ME. It's a STONKER though, is it slabbed or just in a capsule? If slabbed, what grade?
  16. For those that don't want to log in and search.. A really nice coin too!
  17. As stated above, Peter, my argument can be applied to any assessment situation
  18. Yes. Yeah.
  19. If it's a giveaway, count me in Such a nice 1926ME, the reverse is STUNNING!
  20. This one on ebay has the same flaw, and is graded by CGS, so it's strange that they have not picked up on the flaw. Perhaps the one which you bought Rash was noted by the seller, as opposed to the auction house? Who knows, maybe this is why they don't crop up as much. Link
  21. Thanks R, perhaps the moniker for the GV clashes has been coined off the back of the Victoria 'Crows foot'. I did wonder how on earth it looks like a birds foot in the first place I might drop a message to John and see if he has anything more, maybe he read about it somewhere? A big gap between you buying one and then seeing another though!
  22. That you do, well pointed out. Where did you hear/read about this 'crows foot flaw'? I can't find any info on it right now.. And yes, 'tis indeed Mr. Jerrams.
  23. Thanks Pete. Here's the link to that penny (I follow Topcarp he always has great coins), and that's MUCH more like a birds foot than the GV exmaples.. Didn't know it extended to Victorian series too though, is there any literature on it? This must be a die clash too, it's a lot more obvious where it came from on this type.
  24. David Groom's excellant new book arrived yesterday, and the bird's foot is illustrated! Interestingly he states it is found in lots of years for GeorgeV pennies. I wonder if others are associated with die cracks, and whether there is any correlation with the degree of ghosting on the reverse. I found a 1913 penny today, with the same birds foot flaw. And when I play with the pictures of my example I can get the folds in the dress to match up against the neck flaw, it's got to be a clashed die. But I'd never seen this flaw on anything other than the 1918kn, so this is a first for me. Pictures attached of the 1913 and also my comparison shots. (the yellow is from the reverse, which overlays the flaw indentically). Just in case anyone else finds it interesting!
  25. Yeah, he'll be talking about copper pennies though as they weigh 18.8 grams. Hopefully he's not comparing a copper to a bronze
