lovely sixpence, i was watching the recent CNG one with great interest , its the added history that aluminium was only fairly recently made a fairly common metal that is interesting. Any idea if this is the first example of an aluminium coin? recon if a country has one it would be France. I find graded coins mostly keep a consistent pricing and is mostly what i use as my "price guide"

I sold a CGS 88 1935 for £150 a couple years ago, by far a more common date( this was when CGS still had a bit of reputation mind you)

I use SHIPITO, ship my items to a virtually free mailbox in the USA(they charge $2 per item processed but no standing charge) and average shipping costs are $7 or so. This is normally cheaper as most USA sellers offer free postage to the USA so international postage costs $9. This mailbox allows you to specify what to put on the customs form and i have never been charged the wrong amount(i.e not 5%) over the last few years send 22 items and all have arrived(even a couple risky £1000 purchases not insured and not tracked came ok) I can swear by them, have never been upset with what they provide I have included affiliate link i'm sure you wont mind

my one and only time I "won the luck lottery". on the Royal Mint website+facebook page they were doing a stock clearance of 27/29 of the full set of these(packaged) and sold them at face value. my only mistake was they limited 3 of each type to each household and i only purchased 2 for some reason. so suppose i 66 1/3% won the luck lottery? For those that don't know the 2 that were missing from this offer(Simply weren't offered for sale) were the basketball and triathlon, i would like to attribute their inflated prices to this deal. £5000 seems (relatively) cheap to me considering the 2x? gold GV sixpence sold in the last few years for over 20k

I know there was a disparity of silver bullion price($0.45-$0.60 per ounce) to face value with Morgan dollars($1) in the late 20th century, some 2 million+ fakes were estimated to be made and were only picked up on in 2005 or so through thorough die pairing analysis. Regarding precious metal content these coins showed an actual higher silver content than their authentic comrades(up to 96% where there should only have been 90%) but looking at the difference in bullion vs face value these guys were still doubling their money. Possibly the same case could be said for sovereigns and their contemporary face value vs £/$ market per ounce?

I don't understand why people submit coins to LCA. The amount of bidding wars i get into against other live internet bidders is enough to tell me that them not offering it reduces the end price. Combine this with their lack of replying to emails and you have a lose lose. live bidding would be an investment that i feel would be recouped after 1 auction with the increase in prices

also could be an imperfect mixing technique where there are "pockets" of higher CuNi content rather than perfect mix all over

ITEM for someone that sells a lot of rare roman coins(check sold and current listings) this guy doesn't seem to have a clue /s. (hint is most are fake and he hides behind "unresearched" which any time someone mentions it, 99% chance it is fake) Most worrying thing is his negative feedback doesn't reflect how many fakes he peddles and there must be hundreds of people out there with worthless junk
