You talking about an ultra sonic cleaner If so ill tell you how they work as i validate them for hospital use,They basically send water molecules from one end of the bath to the other to validate i place a strip of tin foil in after a set period of time i remove the foil and it will look like a mini shotgun has been fired at it the weight of the foil will drop by over 50% Now if you use an ultrasonic cleaner use on its lowest setting for a short time.Do not buy a fixed power one you could destroy the coin HTH

Thats the bit that hasnt been rainbow toned,the rest has been flattened by the toning all i want is to get rid of the toning

Oh its there all right just not showing on the scanner, that area that looks like wear is the toned area

Hi all just bought myself a 1863 penny its got a very very good strike.Now how can i tell weather its just a unc or a bronze proof? I'll post a piccy when i get home ,but what i can tell you is its very very dark colour but i assume the normal coins turn this colour is the weight different? confused and ive just bought a few nice looking pennies so sorry but expect more stupid questions

Yes - a magnified scan knocks off up to a whole grade in my experience. So I'd say that was a clear EF. In hand it might prove even better. Well that sort of confirms my thinking to me in the hand it looks AUNC, from the scan it said EF cheers

And it looks better in the hand than the scans show

No was part of a small job lot with another top grade 1903 shilling and a 1903 florin,both genuine as far as i can tell.Im just amazed at how much stuff is being copied Got all three for a very good price so the two will be fine Hammer time

Is there anything they havent copied, weight only 4.6g
