  1. I am surprised that there have been no comments on this so far, are people not finding a significant difference in the grades of these 2 coins that have been graded identically by CGS? One of the main concerns around TPGs is their consistency and objectivity ...
  2. I 'randomly' selected one of your videos to watch and my random video selection app picked the sex supermarket one, thanks for the post
  3. Amusing guidance post on the eBay web site! link Not sure if it's accurate, or out-of-date, since their rules seem to constantly change. Can't see a disclaimer stating that the content does not reflect the views of eBay themselves, but it contains advice such as 'never bid until there is less than an hour to go'!
  4. link Could be where the 'seller' got their pic from ...
  5. Good point. It's not the same pic as on the NGC verification site though (although it does look like the same coin), and he could have easily nicked the pic of the reverse as well had he gone there ... Spink £2250 in VF
  6. "My great grand father left me this coin as part of his will" - so it's got provenance, and obviously fine.
  7. An hour and a half to go for any hammered collectors with a yawning Richard III-sized gap in their collection link Apparently the coin was mined, so buyer beware ...
  8. An hour and a half to go for any hammered collectors with a yawning Richard III sized gap in their collection link wrong thread, sorry!
  9. I'm surprised too, I'd have thought there were plenty of completists out there who would snap it up!
  10. In my opinion the 1893 florin is graded correctly, the 1743 crown is VF+, problem free with great eye appeal and wonderful 'in-hand', the 1901 is a tad generous as I also have this 1893 CGS 78 of the same type, comparisons below for comments:
  11. Looks around GF/aVF to me, probably the right ball park price, neither an excessive price nor a bargain IMO
  12. There is a pinned post in the Beginners' Area here http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/7880-posting-pics/ I prefer to use Photobucket and paste in a 'Direct' link from there
  13. Too generous? Too harsh? Comments?
  14. 1901 Half Crown CGS 78 (UNC)
  15. 1743 Crown CGS 40 (VF)
  16. Well the grades are STILL not finalised, but unless they change their mind, these are the grades that will be assigned: 1893 Florin, CGS 75 (UNC or near so)
  17. Please bear with, I am testing whether this image will 'animate' on this forum:
  18. But please keep in mind to mention the repair prior selling such item. I would become really angry, upset and aggressive if someone sells me a coin which is virtual worthless... There are many repaired coins arround with filled holes, removed loops or smoothed rim nicks. Please keep in mind that (at least here in Germany) selling expensive (repaired) coins at full price does destroy your reputation. No serious collector would trust neither in you nor the material you offer.... Very well worth stressing this ChKy. It is a very significant event in the coin's timeline/provenance, and if not mentioned and later discovered would understandably provoke negativity towards the seller!
  19. Do you have any contact details?
  20. My guess on yours would be 75 Dave
  21. Just waiting for the grades to be finalised, should be any day now. I'll post as soon as I have them ...
  22. Acquiring coins for investment (whether short, medium, or long term), as a collector, or as a dealer (typically for a quick turnaround at a profit) are different mindsets and strategies to me. I don't know which of these Rob is referring to, but whichever it is, it is relevant to him, and everyone has a value above which it is 'too much', whatever their reasons for wanting to acquire a coin. In the current climate it is tempting to pay more for high grade coins, but who knows what the future holds ...
  23. What's the UIN Dave? Let me know, I will PM you with what I know of their process
  24. This batch has taken longer than previous ones, SC says complete on Friday (although I hadn't chased) which would be 65 days ... well within their 90 but I used to get 35. My batch of 7 has been at the 'finalising' stage for 3 weeks, pending attribution should come before that, do you mean 'pending encapsulation'? Have they assigned a UIN to your coin yet, and if so, what is it?
