  1. Superhero, Mick, what a musical journey that man has had, wonderful! Nearly as flamboyant as you were in the 70's!
  2. What triangle do you mean?
  3. I still believe the crosses so often scratched into the Elizabeth shillings were there to bring them into line with the new XII of later monarchs!
  4. Nice easy going thread! Can't wait for the day that I can contribute with a find or two of my own!
  5. Oh, and one of these, please! Nice choice, M!
  6. The gold half pound of Elizabeth with bust 3C always did, and still does, float my boat in high grade!
  7. Peace and big blessings upon you for 2016, Peter! Truly, truly! ?
  8. You too, TG! Our paths haven't crossed so much this year, but I'll always remember you fondly for that generous offer, and also for your mediatory good sense in your sensitive and generous postings! happy new year! And the same to all of you! blessings from me and my lovely family! (Who I barely deserve I grant you)
  9. Welcome aboard, Frank! Rob's one of the go-to chaps on here, and a gentleman to-boot, a gentleman and a scholar!
  10. Wouldn't a harness dressing have something more substantial to hold it on, like a complete loop, perhaps, rather that a 'clip', for want of a better word? I can't imagine that remaining attached for very long? Is there any possibility it could be some kind of applet for a uniform? http://www.icollector.com/Polish-Army-2nd-corps-metal-Exile-badge_i12174209
  11. Hi Chris,

    FYA

  12. I can't see any way around it other than multiple shots (the more the better) and blending them in a good bit of design software!
  13. Sounds great fun! Just been looking at the AT Pro reviews...it seems a very popular machine!
  14. Many thanks, G3, I'll definitely look into that. I'm going to join the detecting forum and message my local club tomorrow!
  15. A fair comment!
  16. This is my new year project to join a detecting club. I bought a MineLab around 6 years ago, but found it SO complicated to use that I gave up and sold it. I consider myself to be relatively intelligent, but I read the user booklet 20+ times, and I still struggled to use the blinking thing! You definitely need a club!
  17. The price is constantly in flux! Your best bet is to surf the 'net for bullion spot prices, and purchase prices, as and when you come to buy or sell. If you email Chris Perkins, who runs this site, he might give you a price, as I know he occasionally buys bullion silver?
  18. I disagree! People migrate to the most uptodate record or study, if it's worthy and, of course, supercedes the previous works! No-one would ever attemp a piece of numismatic literature ever again, based on your (Rob's) premise! Surely a collection of significant conflicting works are not to be left unresolved forever for fear that any attempt to resolve them might add to the confusion? This is what the next great piece of numismatic literature is all about, shedding light on a previously incomplete or misunderstood area? Surely?
  19. Brillo Pad HAS to be a hoax, nobody, but, nobody, does this! Nobody! ?
  20. Yes, a season's greeting to you all from the British South-West! ?
  21. So am I!
  22. OK, so it seems to be working for me now! Thanks, Dave, for the post, and you gents for your experiences and insights! weird thing is, I remained signed-in for the entire period, yet couldn't access the forum? who knows? Anyway, all's well that ends well! season's greeting to you all!
  23. Blimey, what a transformation...on the I-phone, at least! Will have to take a closer look at it tomorrow! Wow!
  24. I've posted this a couple of times on here along the way but, when decontaminating coins with acetone and q-tips/cotton buds, remember to dip each end of the bud into the acetone bottle only once! I'll never forget (and it's testament to how much junk you can unknowingly remove from the surface of a coin) getting to the end of my first bottle, and realising in the last 4mm of fluid (a dark bottle) was around 2mm of old coin gunk, which I had been smearing back over my coins in ignorant bliss! I only ever dip the q-tip in the solution once nowadays, and wasted around 100 flips by having to start all over again! My tip of the year!
  25. Although I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of fingerprints on such coins, appeared during, or shortly after, the brief time they were in actual circulation. So the fingerprint is most likely from someone long dead. I'm not sure how careless or otherwise staff at specialist coin auction houses are. Do you have any evidence to support an assertion that they handle them carelessly? What does bug me are those endless pics on e bay with a coin photograohed in somebody's hand. At the auctions I've attended, the coins are in and out of the wallets at a million miles an hour, and being handled by anyone who wants to inspect it.
