  1. Cracking coin? Oh, I don't know - folded, yes, but not actually cracking If you look closely it does actually have a crack in it Dealer offered me £100 btw which i actually thought was a fair price so will probably pull it off and sell to him. Result, avoiding eBay fees too! Any chance you could fire me over the high resolution images for cross-reference or use in my groat die study?
  2. Aeroplane blond (she has a black box)
  3. I'd be a bit suspicious of the 565 bidder too: £55.55 £77.77 £111.11 £122.22 He had a 'choice uncirculated' for sale the other day, which was a right bloody laugh! Actually I should put this in Paulus' room 101, because I absolutely hate the word 'choice' being used inappropriately! I really want to be impressed when I see a 'choice' coin!
  4. Good luck Saxon, please let us know what you get for it! I'm guessing £80-£100, good luck Saxon and, yes, let us know, or link us the sale?
  5. That bottom penny is a ringer for the two brassy ones I had! I think they are troublesome from a collection point of view, as they really stand out like sore thumbs!
  6. Let's find out, then! Hope I'm not too late - but that looks like an obvious cast replica. I think you're 99% right, I'll let you know 100% very soon! This would be the first hammered sixpence I've seen, so worth having, if only to mark on my die template, against it's original, that 'crude copies are known to exist of this die'! I will be discussing a partial reimbursement in the likely event of a forgery exposure, or a return with full-reimbursement! After I've got it's vital stats and a nice picture, of course!
  7. Sorry, I didn't get that...what field was that, where did you say you lived?
  8. Elizabeth 6d 281030455548 What do you think, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole? If it stays cheap enough, I will buy it to find out!
  9. For my own part, I'd say your coin doesn't look overdone (though I am viewing on a small screen), and that a certain amount of 'wash' is neccesary with soil finds! What spoils a coin forever though is the use of any kind of abrasive that, in affect, smooths up the higher points of the devices; this never looks natural, even after retoning! Excellent finds, I'd be out every day if I could find just ONE hammered for my effort!
  10. DUMB! 281030094760 (he's got 11 of these finishing if you're interested!) AND DUMBER! 221160192114 Links would be good if anyone's free?
  11. Aye, all finished! Fat nothing, will have to dig deeper than I can manage at the moment!
  12. Unbelievable! The two I was most interested in went for more than 3x estimate! Estimate 5-600, my top bid £1k, hammer price in excess of £1500! Think I'm gonna start collecting Charles shillings, they seem to be about right...some nice coins going at reasonable prices! On the up-side, I know where my upgraded coins are going! I got 3 lots of Chas I, but its a tough auction Nice one, still a couple liz coins to go...nothing exciting, though!

  15. Another excellent avatar happenin' there, man! What's going on around here, my rose looks awefully boring now!
  16. Sadly, I could never boast that at my butcher's shop!
  17. North East (sunderland) telephone code...say no more!
  18. Good luck with them, let's all keep our fingers crossed that Christmas comes early!
  19. I'm gonna have one of these this time round! What's the date range? 1800-present i think Chars! Will certainly try it out, then!
  20. I never see any hammered copper at the big houses? That's all I can afford to dig at at the moment, I'm stretched as thin as...well, a thin thing, really! They do tend to only come up when a collection is sold, it is not very often you will see one or two at auction...I don't know why It IS strange, I agree! Especially when it's possible to sit through many a lot where even a £2 increment on £20 is a struggle! Copper farthings would hold their own at auction, surely? Big apologies for my constant edits, I'm sure my phone is doing its own thing. I edited this post because my phone inserted an 'an' for an 'a'! Bloody annoying that you have to watch the screen like a hawk, when all you want to do is look at the tap-keyboard and have what you plonk your thumb in (classic example...i just tapped in 'on,' and the phone, for whatever grammatical logic it can fathom, auto-changed it to 'in') arrive, in the way you WANTED it to, on the g'damn screen! It's not too much to ask, surely? Grrrrrr!
  21. iPhones

  23. I can't even imagine for a second yhat TG would part with even £10 for that one. Unless of course he's in the Christmas spirit and fancying a bit of 'the ghost of Carolvs past'? cuFknig ioPnesh!
