  1. the only coin i would buy from china would have to have a letter of authenticity signed by chairman mao himself...................
  2. i also have a decent collection of beermats, they can be had for free and it's interesting to see how many different ales i have drank in the last couple of years..............it's strange that i can still walk in a straight line.
  3. do you collect anything else besides coins?? i collect classic jaguars my xk120 and ss100
  4. lovely coin but at that price it is just ridiculous for that price.......................... i bought a classic jaguar ss100 for £35,000 and it gives me far far more pleasure than any coin from woderwick would!!
  5. the amount of these that turn up on ebay, there must be around 10,000 unknown examples?? ;)
  6. could be a result of the old habit of varnishing coins in the hope that the varnish would preserve them.
  7. how thick are some people, the casting bubbles on the obverse are as clear as a pint of stella.
  8. what do you want for the kn penny?
  9. sweden 2 ore, the three crowns on the obverse is the national emblem of the country.
  10. i've got the 6d and shilling both are brass with a silver wash which has become worn in parts.
  11. the announcement of the pie tax nearly caused riots in wigan....................
  12. i have 1 polished coin in my collection of over 11,000 it is a chile 1860 1 centavo and until i find a better example i will keep it. as for the rest they have never seen a duster and some have only been dipped in acetone to remove dirt.
  13. i had a punt at this one, when it got to £1200 i decided not to go any further because i couldn't see the coin first before buying and the description put me off going higher...........
  14. one of the best examples of a sarsons farthing...........................................obviously cleaned with vinegar
  15. i gather it isn't just me who is sick and tired of these ridiculous "offers" from the mint, i get emails almost daily asking if i would like this bit of tat or that bit of tat. unless it is a genuine collectable offer i tend to put them straight into the bin. and yes i bought all the olympic coins for my grandson but any others no thanks!!!
  16. found this on an american web site, a really beautiful coin ruined by the severe toning, not to mention the slab............
  17. was in wh smiths yeasterday and the girl behind the check out told me that the sale of the carded 50p coins has been very slow.
  18. Send me the few quarters that you need, to finish the book out (5-6 as I recall), and I will see if I can pick them up for you. which states do you want? i have a few spares.......
  19. our friends in shangai are quite adept at producing top quality counterfeits.
  20. i use the book "grading british coins" and my own experience and expertise.
  21. i hold my hands up and admit i have bought a forgery thinking it was genuine. it was an american trade dollar dated 1872 and looked to be legit and my little knowledge of usa coins made me a little naive, i only found out it was fake after i asked my american friend and he told me the coins were only minted from 1873. i may be absolutely shit hot on uk coins but the usa coins still leave me a little confused.
  22. i've been using acetone for years after an american friend recommended it, i have used it on most types of coins including copper. it has removed the dirt but not the patina, i had one coin from sweden which had a black tar type substance on one part of the edge, as soon as it went in the acetone the substance dissolved without harming the coin.
  23. to clean gunk from a coin dip it in acetone, then rinse under clean water, this removes most of the crap, if that fails try an orbital sander, and duraglit (only joking)
  24. your not nick griffin by any chance? hardly, i'm jewish............
  25. if you use ebay then michael cartz at coinmountain is a good honest dealer who has a good list of world coins at decent prices............
