  1. Spink lists an 1863 with die number, prices as follows F 1350 and VF 3000. You never know your luck
  2. Lol, same seller is seliing, and i quote (Hole set of One Pennys 1860-1967) then his description goes on to say quote: Once it gets further than 1900 they start spliting up, so for Queen Victoria i have got....1998, 97, 96, 95, 92, 91, 90, 89, 87, 84, 82, 79, 77, 76, 74, 66, 65, 63, 62, 61, and 1960 And here was me thinking that Victoria died 1902, apparently she's still going strong on the Throne 182 years on
  3. The coin sounds more like a medal, but a picture would help.
  4. There is a market for error coins, although i'm not really up to speed at what these would be worth at all. I see a lot of the UK errors on German websites, they are wanting around €40 ish a piece, but as i said, i don't really know what prices are for these. Maybe have a look around flea bay and do a bit of reasearch on the subject
  5. Nice wee error, can see it more on the edge.
  6. Hi there, i to am in Munich, although i'm Scottish. I think somewhere on the forum there is a calendar with dates for coin fairs and auctions. I don't read the coin news although i do have the coin yearbook for referencing values etc.
  7. Actually you can just make out the faint trace of the dot. It's partly a combination of uneven wear (the higher dot is more protected by the rim) and a partly worn or filled die. That's my opinion anyway. Sadly the coin doesn't have any extra value. Perhaps its the one between GRA and BRITT I can see the faint dot too....
  8. Great. At least we can say we know what it is now ! Are they quite common ? To be honest i could'nt say, but at least we have managed to sort out what it is. You said you had 2 coin/medals? Do you have a picture of the other?
  9. The picture you have uploaded is a jubilee medal.
  10. To be honest both sound very odd, how could anyone depict Victoria before she aged, i would assume that it might not be the given date. A few pictures of both coins of both sides would help. There is an upload function at the bottom of the page. 150kb max per picture. It would be better if you made 4 posts of each side of both coins at that size if the coins are worn so we can have a close-up view.
  11. DaveG38 put me down for a book, am hoping you take Paypal or have a German bank account. I also agree with Declan and Red about the good ebay sellers guide, would help people here who don't wanna trawl through all the dross that gets sold on ebay. Great idea Declan
  12. Personally i think Ebay gets a wider audience, depending on what it is you are selling. Gold jewellery always gets cash (scrap value) I know a lot of people here knock it, but if you are looking to sell items then i think its the best place for not so high ticket items. I tend not to buy coins from there, although i did buy 1 yesterday from RLC from this site, i tend to go for safe options if i do buy coins from Ebay (which isn't often)
  13. Well i bet you are a happy father that your 17 year old has taken up a hobby like this other than some other activities that a lot of 17 year olds get up to these days. I'd be happy to try and reference anything he'd bring home.
  14. Seriously, is this an EF? Is he for real http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330432904530&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330432904530%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  15. I got an 1818 Geo III HC earlier this year, the crown and the head were upside down on that particular one, there was a long debate about it until someone came along with a genuine one. Where the 3 lions are there is lines going through the shield, the one i had, had the lines running through the lions tail, the genuine one didn't. Weight should always be checked along with any wear to the silver to see if there's brass colouring underneath
  16. Lol, try spending any Scottish notes in England
  17. I wonder if the seller even knew what it was lol, no mention of the signature on the description
  18. 400 offering a pint, i'll be over 1st flight before old age sets in
  19. Geeez, that doesn't even look like a quid
  20. So what do we make of this Gothic Crown (Chinese Seller) on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220601768117&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  21. Here's another Chinese seller, looks like he/she is selling fakes judging by the 4 neutral feedbacks but is saying the item is genuine. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220601768117&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  22. We've bought from nyame too, and we were happy. One of Richparfishing's favourite coin sources, by the way. Yeah that's who i was talking about Declan, the thought of even buying anything other than food from a Chinese person worries me and won't touch it with a barge pole
  23. Ok cheers Rob, Chinese sellers are off my limits
