  1. Yeah i saw the huge thumbprint on the halfpenny, think i'll leave them both, still not keen on copper, i just wondered why they were rare, still not sure why the penny is rare though
  2. It says in the sellers text that its EF/Unc, i'd go along with that, i'm just not a copper buyer, but for something rareish i'd make the exception, he also has a 1 penny 1863 UNC and he also says it's rare but i'm wondering why, i'll upload the pix and hopefully someone could tell me 1860 halfpennies are the only 'beaded border' bronze denomination where the beaded variety is notably less scarce than the toothed variety. Toothed 1860s are even more scarce than the price guides indicate, and actually rare in top grade. The 1863 penny is a nice looking coin, but it is one of the commonest early dates for bronze bun pennies - in fact, unless rare varieties, 1860 - 63 are as common as you get until the 1880s. ALL buns are collectible in that grade though, so it's worth a punt if the price is right. (There are a couple of immensely rare 1863 varieties, but that isn't one). The penny is €160 and the half is €65

  4. If anyone has the KM book here's the number KM # 748.1
  5. Just wanted some opinions of this coin, is this a rare type, it states "beaded border" rare? Is it? Must admit, its in a really good grade, i don't normally buy copper, but would only for rare types, hence my question. Thanks all.

  10. Do you have a picture of obverse and reverse?
  11. I shall grab the book this afternoon or this evening. Are those 1 Pfennigs? 1948 F 2,50€ 1949 J 2€ 1950 J 1,50€
  12. Yes, also just finished wading through a couple of kilos of 10 pf pieces and found sixteen 1949 issues, my boredom threshold is nearly breached so my 8 year old son has been "volunteered" to help me sort through the bags of 2 and 5 pf this afternoon. The Kaiser reich coins would attract more enthuasium from collectors in Germany, look through the silver first if there is any, 2,3 or 5 reichsmarks 1900 and lower Forgot to mention, weirmar republik silver coins also attract good money 1923-1933/4

  15. No need to sort them out by letter, just list what you have and along with the mint mark, A,B ETC, maybe a rough grade and i'll go through my Jaeger book (German coin Book) the Spink of the German coin world and get back to you. I used to collect the German coins but sold them all on to concentrate on the English coins, i'm originally from Scotland but now in Munich
  16. Its a Geo III Isle Of Man 1 or 2 penny i think
  17. Lol, a great story about your mum paying the milkman, and yes we do know that you are going to start purchasing fillers, so all i can say is "welcome to the world of coins" As for the rest of your questions, am sure some of the rear guard will be along soon to help you out, i am fairly new myself to collecting, a mere pup to some of the older generation on here, but they are a helpful lot and don't bite to hard. Welcome to the forum also.
  18. Your pix have obviously been scanned, you need to crop the scan around the coin then upload, you are allowed 150k upload for each reply
  19. thank you! sorry if pic not that good It was good enought to work the coin out. If you have more to ask about try taking pics, then people can also judge the grade for you and perhaps give a price based on its grade.
  20. Its actually called Three halfpence (for colonial use) Spink number 3915 not quite sure about the grade but spink has for a VF 6 pounds and EF 25 pounds
