Dunno what book you are looking at, but the the ESC (English Silver Coinage) book has dies for the 1873 Florin going up to 262 and states they may go higher, so yours will be recorded

Ok, am thinking OBV 5 due to the fact Freemans describes a flaw which is prevelant on the G in REG where there is sometimes a protrusion above the short horizontal bar, which this has and can be seen in my OBV pic. Although i was initially thinking OBV 3 until i read this.

Also Tom, it does cost extra for the zoom in pix, if you take a good quality picture there would be no need for zoom unless it was a rare coin. I use the macro function on my coins. Look up some of my posts in coin aquisition of the week, you'll see how good a pic you can get with a decent camera. Mine is only an 8M cannon on something like that, but it does take a good picture and i only paid €100 for it, my last suggestion would be to put the coin on a flat surface and not hold it, i take mine against a dark background generally and also in the daylight, natural light is great for making good pictures. Also, putting a reserve price and a buy it now costs you twice, either put one or the other. Sorry, i'm just trying to help and not tell you how to run your auctions, just some advice on saving a few pounds here and there

I believe that if you can give as much info about a coin as you can then it can attract more people Good pictures are a must also. I've seen coins with descriptions of "Penny" and that's it, well we can all see that it's a Penny. Might i suggest that you look at other peoples descriptions and work on it from there, this guy (330435532851) a dealer always sells high end stuff, although he has been caught silver dipping them, but his descriptions are always much the same format and he does attract bidders. Also list it international, there is a tick box just after you've added your description on the next page. Timing is also important, Sunday to Sunday is always good, i generally list something either a Sunday morning or a Sunday night. Hope it helps.

Thanks Azda must say you are giving fair advice. So is what you are saying if it turned out to be the error Ebay is not the place?? I just had a look on the site you suggested about grading they do not do error/flaw online, but may be they do it postally. Looks very American,, do you have to post it to US??? Is there no grading in UK? I think I may end up taking it off Ebay. I will try a while. I don't mind if I lose out a bit and someone else gains as at the end of the day I have found a penny that did not cost me a fortune and to someone else it may be an interesting item. You seemed to suggest the other price was far to high. Surely then there is no chance of reaching that kind of money even if authenticated so is it worth the wait??? Sorry for my impatience Russ I'm not saying it's not worth that Russ, it might be if authenticated, then again, if it were authenticated it might be worth more, it could be unique and then it would be worth a hell of a lot more. This is why i think it would be better to get someone to look at it. You could send it off to spink. Go onto their website and maybe send an email with a few pictures of the coin, they might ask you to send it on to them, but as you didn't pay a lot for it, it will be to your benefit if it comes back a genuine error, then you'll be a happy man that you waited.

I really could'nt say Russ, personally i'd get it checked out, then no one could laugh if what you have is a genuine error. That piece of paper you would get would be quite some insurance, then if it were genuine Ebay would'nt be the place for it. Just my opinion, what's a month or so to get it checked out?

Why not try PCGS and get it encapsulated at the same time, maybe they can work out what it is for you and you'd be killing 2 birds with 1 stone. You'd probably have to point the error, if thats what it actually is, then let them do the legwork
