  1. And how much? Ooooops, it has been answered already :-)
  2. I'd go along with that suggestion, although naming and shaming the seller or so would'nt be a great idea, unless its apparent that, that person is always selling junk. A friend of mine got a shilling from Ebay the other day, and it was 1 gram light, instead of it being say 5.65g it was 4.3g or so. I'll see if he's got a picture. I think there is also a suggestions thread, so maybe this is better there so that Chris could maybe pick up on it and start the topic in its own right just like he did with the coin aquisition of the week thread, but a great idea.
  3. Yes Russ, the die axis is top and tail as it were, a lot of coins were made this way
  4. 400 i suggest that if you have been circling the coin for a year then it means you have some reservations about it, in which case i would say not to bother, or make him an offer on it, tell him your concerns about the OBV and then make your offer and see what he says, he can only say no, or maybe make you a counter offer, so go in at 140 :-)
  5. Also just noticed another die crack on the REV through the E in ONE
  6. If you look to the right of the ribbon, you can see what seeems to be an outline of another ribbon, unless it's my eyes playing tricks on me. Also to the left of her shoulder there is indentation marks, she's a very curious penny.
  7. Here is the OBV of the same coin
  8. And what would the green spot mean, am unsure?
  9. Just noticed that the trident has 2 whole prongs and the first missing
  10. Got this bunhead penny today and Britannia looks like she's got half a left leg, any comments on it, is it a weak strike?

Congrats 1949 (walks away mumbling to himself) :-)
  12. Personally i wouldn't touch a coin from China, am not saying the sellers items are fake, its just my personal choice. I posted something about a month or 2 back somewhere here about a Chinese coin factory, they even had PCGS plastic holders, so even those are under attack. The only chinese i would touch is a number 47 and 29, chicken chow mein and prawn crackers
  13. Oopppps, for got the link :-) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/40X-25mm-LENS-JEWELER-LOUPE-MAGNIFYING-GLASS-MAGNIFIER_W0QQitemZ320510624304QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Jewellery_Watches_JewelleryBoxes_Supplies_CA?hash=item4a9fec0230
  14. Not so much as a laugh, more of a recommendation, got this from a seller in Hong Kong, an excellent Lupe 40x Magnification, 2.59 with free postage, took 2 weeks to come but its an excellent and strong lupe with an led light, also comes in a small hard plastic case for anyone wanting a good glass.
  15. CCGB quotes it at 1500 in EF. I also sent the pictures to a dealer in the UK and he said it was worth between 1400 and 1600 in its grade
  16. Have to say I was thinking GVF, although the second lot of photos look better than the first, but grading is meaningless if you paid the right money. It ran into 4 figures Red ;-) Wow, more than £9.99 you mean? Yes Peckris, add a zero and another €100 and you'll be in the region

  18. 2nd and 3rd attempt at the said OBV
  19. So here are the OBV and REV of the Sovereign, and however much i try i'm struggling with a good picture of the OBV, but here it is anyway
  20. No problem, i'll be posting my other error coin on here tomorrow
  21. Am not sure it really helps, the camera i have can only get so near then goes pear shaped, i've taken a picture and just cut out around the date. I have looked at it through a glass/lupe and i can definately see the last 8 is thicker at the top right, hope the picture will show it
