  1. In addition to the 1854 PT above, I've now managed to obtain an 1854 OT at below book price, also in UNC with considerable lustre. Really pleased. Keeping my original scruffier 1854 OT though, as the colon dots after DEF are very close together.
  2. That's literally insane.
  3. What, the money of your international customer? I know paypal is convenient, but like you, I'm not particularly keen on them, after a negative experience in 2018. For my latest purchase I did pay by credit card which the buyer thanked me for and assured a delivery by next day tracked. On its way.
  4. Thanks a lot, Bruce. Useful info.
  5. This is now the third time in recent months that I've bought from the same very good e bay seller. A real quality item at below book price. He offers economy postage @ £2.75, and on the previous two occasions I've asked if he could possibly send via next day tracked, and I'd happily make up the difference. But he sent them next day tracked, with no additional charge. I'm hoping he will do so again, if I ask nicely. I'm no expert on charges from the seller's point of view, but would I be correct in assuming that if I elected to pay by credit card rather than paypal, the seller would gain via avoidance of paypal charges? I've no idea whether he'd get a separate charge from my use of a credit card. Thanks in advance.
  6. Sorry Blake, you've got me there. Doesn't mean anything to me.
  7. He certainly made a complete pig's ear of the speech, which will definitely not bring home the bacon. In fact, with all his porkies can anything now save his bacon? The room was fair crackling with embarrassment for him. It was a rash speech - in fact it couldn't have been much rasher. Boris is all pork and no action !
  8. You can tell that Boris really has had a very bad week at the office........
  9. Interesting. Slants well over to the right. Never seen that before.
  10. Agreed. It's not the force it once was as far as coins are concerned.
  11. That's always the suspicion when these things go on behind closed doors. We will see.
  12. Although in their favour, and to balance things up ⚖️, you do pay over 10% less buyer's premium than say, DNW. But yes, LCA real time online bidding would be great.
  13. Well I'm delighted to say it has now arrived - with a lost day in between.
  14. Hope you eventually received your item OK, Bruce.
  15. That did cross my mind actually. Although it'd be a very different outcome than with the individual concerned in your case. I like to think I'd act more honestly & intelligently than he has done so far.
  16. No, I'll bet he didn't either. Don't think it's anything to do with the pandemic now, as they've done the last two as public auctions. Do you know the reason, Richard?
  17. Another one gone missing in action. This time a next day tracked delivery. Dropped off at Post Office on Monday but initially too late to be sent on to the Mail Centre that day. Sent to Southampton Mail Centre yesterday, where it's then shown as despatched to the destination Mail Centre (should be South Midlands). But there is no scan in shown. Needless to say, it's not arrived and we're now past 1pm. Royal Mail advised me earlier to contact the sender in the event it hadn't arrived by 1pm, in order that they themselves can initiate compensation enquiries with Royal Mail. So I'll do that. Link to the tracking No here 1806 Bronzed Proof penny. Cost over £500. Frustrating to say the least.
  18. Hmm, pity they can't just give you a straight, honest answer of where they're currently at with the issue, instead of all this cloak and dagger stuff?
  19. "Earnest" the word, not "Ernest" the name. Subtle but big difference. Bit like when people write "your" instead of "you're". The difference between "your shit" and "you're shit"
  20. Yep, Longfield. I've worked out that even if I still lived in Chelmsford it would be a slightly awkward place to get to. Would probably have to use the Dartford Tunnel from Thurrock. From where I live now, it's simply not a viable journey for a day. Too much hassle around the London area.
  21. Just dawned on me Richard, that Bracknell's in Berkshire, rather than Kent. So presumably they have already moved to the new venue, and auctions at the Grange Hotel are no more?
  22. No idea what they are. Just saw the link and posted out of interest. Using the zoom they look like foam or plastic inserts.
  23. Whilst going through some coin books/magazines today, I came across an Italian vendor of coin cabinets. The craftsmanship looks very good, although his tray recesses are square rather than round. The link is for one cabinet, but if you scroll down there are others shown underneath. link
  24. According to the link header, it's still at the Grange Hotel Bracknell - scroll down a bit here But when you actually click on it, there is no mention of the location. I know they're changing to somewhere else in March 2022. That was in the last hard copy catalogue. Didn't really take much notice of where it was though.
