was only posting what collectors coin GB says for minting figues and value, compared to other penny minting figues 1-2 milliopn is not that many most pennies are around 40-50 million mintage, except for those KH and H ones of course, my 1999 coins market values lists it as worthless at VF , there is a site selling a 1926 in under for £2.50 btw so you can get them cheap 1932 has 8,277,600 mintage only, but is only worth a fraction more then 1931 1947 has 2,220,400 but worth the same as others around it
-
looking at the mintage for 1926 penny in collectors coins GB it only shows 4,498,519, which is less then the 1919H, so they are scarce, but yes the mintages do carry over, looking at the valuations though a VF 1926 penny is worth £20, so maybe it is low mintage (and yes i do mean the 193), i have one myself but it is in the sort of condition you normally find these old pennies in.

bought the book yesterday, looked at my purchases over the past weeks in it, have to say i'm pleased with the extra information on variants of coins i never knew existed (the sharp and round corners on 3d's the ear thing on george V pennies) where did you get those values from though? i got a 1858 small date farthing in fine for £6, says it is worth 40
-
lol i can get one like that for about £2... and still wont lol

without the H, i believe is rarer then the one with, in poor/fair probably not much value wise still though. -

New 20p cupro Nickel manufacturing process?
scott replied to Russ777's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
quite a few errors on these 20ps, been keeping then back when i get them, i have noticed that the first one i got has a brownish lustre compared to the other 2, i have found that sometimes cupro-nickel does get brown stripes, (have a 20p with browny stripes going across). i have a 1979 5p thats more brown then white too, and a 1968 10p (well worn though) which is almost brown. -

£5 bag of mint 1967 pennies
scott replied to a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
lol didn't they makes 1967 dated coins all the way through to 1970? i personally dont have an UNC old penny , should go through them and look for error ones though. -
this is nice, magnifer always good if you are comparing 2 types of same date coins, especially if the differance is minute
-
i dont think so, i keep all mine back just in case, i got another new 20p yesterday with some "cuds" (thats the blobs) on them, those are slightly rarer. although you do find a lot of 2008's with the blobs while we are on the subject of 20p's i got a 2006 with some coppery stripes on, very light though another error? (looks cool though)

i know stores do educate about fake notes. i was reading about him, whether these are by him or not though, they do seem poor though, i'll and try get a picture of them. dunno whether to try and get rid or keep hold of them though
-
is it me or have there been more fake £1's, past few weeks i have found 2, sadly they are so obvious (wrong obverse with reverse, bigger, smudgier legends, obverse/reverse dont even align, there is hardly any detail on the designs), how are these even getting into circulation so easily
-
not seen a 1988 pound in ages. but i agree, if there are around 100,000 i would put it at about the same value as the 1992 50p as a guide

old and new sizes, anything post 1968. currently sorting through my 1992 10ps (found 3 differant veriaties, still looking for that 4th one), was wondering which is the most scarce? the things i did find so far: 1992 small head 20p (probably not worth anything but i heard its the rarer version) 1985 50p, again it has been in circulation for a while so condition isn't the best, BUT i heard there were only around 650,000 minted and giving that people returned old 50's for new 50's back in 97, i was wondering.. how many of that mintage would remain? all? or do the mint melt the old ones down? also have a very nice 1994 50p (i kept that back when i first got it so its in very nice condition with full luste). i have found a fair few minor errors i think cuds? (random raised blobs on pennies and 5p's) but will pennies there are other ones, that looks like it has wear (might be bad plating though can see a silvery colour in some spots this could be effecting the minting quality). interesting 2 5p's with a blob in the same spot on both (although one has a 2nd blob). and a 2000 penny with a hole in the copper plate on the queens hair (its in mint condition so you can see it through the lustre) also some full lustre 1983 and 1992 pounds will probably try and get books on it as this sort of collecting is very interesting as i can get these coins for face value and don't have to spend sums buying rarer and nice coins as the general population wouldn't know about the 4 1992 10p's or the small head 1992 20p, or how many of a particular coin is made, so there is no trade for them (except the mule 20p) next i have to go through my 5p's 2p's and pennies (got lots of these coppers) so hopefully i can find something interesting (i heard rumours of a differant rimmed 1990 5p?)

20p shield 2008 rarer coin discovered?
scott replied to Russ777's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
i'm curious as to how long the mint has put those 1's on the coin, and where they might be on other issues. -
well it is quite thin, might be strike damage as there is a letter there kinda sticks out, i do love it though, but is there any way of telling mint damage from regular damage?

was wondering on these, i bought an edward I london penny many years ago for £2, now the designs are crisp, but the one problem with it is there is a bit missing (about 1/5 of the text on the outer edge so not really intruding heavily onto the coin (about 1.5 CM at most from edge to central cross design, the coin itself is only half farthing size), now i bought this mostly because to get a coin of such age at that price was the only chance at the time to get a coint of that period into my collection, but was wondering where exactly the missing part places this in condition categorys, as i said the designs that are there are crisp, i am curious as to where to put this in condition and value.

was in Berlin and was lucky enough to recieve a 2006 2 euro german Schleswig-Holstein commemorative euro, also has a copper coloured part around the join which looks nice. was wondering if this was worth holding on to, says 30 million made but i have no idea how many euros are actually made in comparison.
-
ahh ok, so is this worth holding onto?

Another one to watch for
scott replied to Geoff T's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
no edit button, just had a look at one of my pennys, this one seems to have both sides have a kind of scratchy or flat marking almost around the rims, hard to describe and no camera handy, but there is a possible indent going around the text areas making it a weaker press (can see an odd shine where it says one penny, right around the bottom of the lettering indicating some sort of indenting, its also scratched along there and not anywhere else. could be wear but its just odd place for it, the text on the other side is also more faint with some even worn away (top of the 2 on 2008 half the E on elizabeth (seems almost silvery in some spots, if i shine it in light) also another with some bubbles on the neck of the queen -

havn't seen the new 50p yet, got a fair few pennies so i'll be looking out for the reverse dye thing (if i know what it looks like). was curious as to how many of the old style 2008 coins there are, compared to new? -
i may have another mule, i got one the past week, and comparing it to pictures on the royal mint site, the TWENTY seems to be slightly off centre (the T and Y almost touch the edge of the coin)
