  1. lol i already have one, albeit in fair, that cost me a couple of quid.
  2. i cant say, i dont have freeman but there are gaps seem to be there, which means there are 2 listed in FMAN for both 54 and 55, i never knew about the extra 55 but i think freeman does have the 2 rim thickness' listed.
  3. I can't see any reference to varieties of the 1954 and 1955 farthings in Freeman?????? CCGB has 1954 665 1955 667 1956 669 and i know of the 2 ruim thicknesses in 1954
  4. dont forget the 2 variants of 1954 and 55 in freeman
  5. yea, the site covers the reverse types, as well as some unlisted overstrikes. i posted one yesterday thats not listed on the site, in unconfirmed, the obverse is... the reverse isn't
  6. see no reason to add this, had a look at this coin numerous times in differant lights and there is no sign of even a faint upper colon dot. it reads BRITANNIAR: REG: FID.DEF: most dots are faint, especially at the end of REG but they are visible
  7. yea thats a nice thing, guessing its reasonably scarse then
  8. yes toning also, i have coins that are lustrous but you cant really see it in the normal way (my 1953 penny is toned in such a way you have to rotaste the coin to see the lustre. and i have a high grade australia penny which is dark brown with great details and has a sort of shine, but not lustrous, just a shine. better if you see what i mean tbh the toning, you can see the lustre via the light reflection here and the australia example, as you can see detail is high but all it has is a shine
  9. lots of 2008 coins had random errors, lots of poorly struck 2008 pennies, but blobs of metal on 20p's seems to have happened a lot since 2003, have a fair few 20p's from this period with random raised blobs on the obverse
  10. but why just the 20p? why is there nothing on the ohter demoninations?
  11. recent buy for £2.75 couln't pass it up. my research has took me to 1708 (can JUST make out the 8) 2nd Bust E mark, and 6 strings on harp. firstly, i need more information on the paritcular type, and secondly, 6 and 7 string harps? are these specfic dates or are there both types for all dates
  12. my theory is they did that AFTER they found the error patch and used it as a check. BUT there does seem to be some cudding into the detail under the one so maybe its juts a blob
  13. human error errors then, people should really keep an eye on whats inside the machine imo
  14. because errors, are interesting, a major planchet clip is very interesting piece, its more intregue and possibly like having a rare type
  15. i love error pieces, not paying 25 euros for one though, i have a £2 2008 with no obverse dot at the bottom, a few clipped planchet pieces.
  16. been looking it up, the larger 4 seems to pop up with the 4 over 4 listing on aboutfarthings. and the 8 does look slanted but i have spotted a few interesting things on the reverse. FID. and the R in reg. could just be some odd wear to it. but it looks like someone has used a P over the R to top up the die
  17. one particular coin i'm after is going cheap.. better not be the penny i have eye on :/ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=tab%3DWatching notice the top part of the 3 is flatter like the open 3 version
  18. yes they are stupidly priced, looking at these decimal coins, UNC 80, 1995 5p for a tenner? i dont care about how UNC it is... its dumb
  19. very nice farthing, looks to be in a very nice grade, laurate head 1826 too, this farthing i would put at about £20-30 due to it being the scarcer type for the year and a very good grade, the knock on the obverse does retract a little from the value, still a very desirable piece, and i really wouldn't be surprised if it was up to £50. ok as for grade, its extremely fine, as for value, as i said above, in the book EF is £50 but books are not always accurate and there is a knock on obverse
  20. true i guess, but i have had some of my nicer pieces from bulk buys i got on the cheap. i plan to hold onto these coins in the long term. and i have some very nice specific coins that are worth a good chunk alone, that are more specialist and as such if i did sell i would sell them to people who knew about the area (1858 small date farthing, 1939 rhodesia 6D etc) wish i could afford lustrous pennies from before geogrge V, i'll stick to partial lustre farthings and enjoying my 1858 small date farthing.
  21. hmm, am i missing something with the 65?
  22. lol rip off much, i'll stick to ebay and my dealer usualy a bargain to be had somewhere, trhats my investment, if i pay below book price i cant lose
  23. depends, might be something in the 1989 if its claim of rights, isn't that one scarce?
  24. o i can see that.. that ghosting is cool too mine has a bit more trident prong
