  1. Great stuff Chris. Any chance of getting involved with Coincraft and upgrading the 2000 edition with better paper, realistic pricing further varieties. A bit of work required but this would rival Spink.
  2. He could of been holding a Carpenters CD. I would also say that Joseph was a trusty soul...virgin Mary etc. The jury is out here...although driving back from a break in North Norfolk and country laneing it with the Magnificent Churches every 1/2mile or so...well it made me feel Christian....well a bit.
  3. Scottishmoney..My feelings for you are growing...you are a girlie arn't you ? If not we will have to wrestle naked in front of a huge log fire. ps Don't drop your coins on the hearth rug...OOPS Mrs Peter has caught me at it again.
  4. That was me Doh.
  5. A bad day for Charlie...but Hey a nice round flan
  6. Ooops Mrs Peter has just caught me oggling.
  7. I've got some nice William 111 coins for you Aiden. Personally I can't stand extremists of any relegion, race or creed and the sooner the minority (extremists) realise this the better will our society be.
  8. Luckliy in the UK we haven't slipped down the slippery slope of slabbing...I think Lockdales tried to offer the service a few years back but it didn't cotton on. We had Ashmore forgeries in the 60/70's where a tool maker produced remarkable forgeries using correct age Silver.(These are now collectable) US supplies of coins seem dried up...luckily we live in a country where 2000+ years of coin history are still being dug up by new methods and the latest detectors. I was recently speaking to a detectorist and saw his collection of coins dug up in Thetford Norfolk(an area of dry breckland sand)...his 17/18C copper coins were immaculate....when I hinted the value of these coins he was rather chuffed. Lovely raw coins and an unlimited supply.
  9. Slabbed coins to me are too similar to Modern Royal mint issues.(ie no interest whatsoever) The only time I would buy a slab is to break it open and introduce it into my collection. Obviously in the US you have idiots (IMO) who are willing to pay huge sums for someone elses opinion of a 1 point higher grade. Still it takes all sorts. Hey Buddy leave them RAW coins to me.
  10. It was a flan error..the D of Dei was flat as was the reverse. Bought as a VF for about £10. My previous EF given to a friend as an Xmas present...he collects George 11 furniture. Now if you want to see some catalogues !!!!!! Plus Mrs Peter is quite happy that I stick to coins.
  11. I actually bought a job lot of these things (30 pieces) for a Fiver....good old days etc....I thought they might be interesting....but no. They still sit in my action pot...gaining green deposits.
  12. Yep A nice not freakie currency piece for me every time. Although I did buy a dodgy 1758 shilling.....live on the edge...Yeh.
  13. Geordie...What is that ?
  14. Could be interesting....but I'm not convinced http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1676-Charles-II-copp...1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. There will be a Perkins ref in numismatics within 10 years DEF INFO
  16. Bloody hell A £10 coin makes £50.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Great-Britain-3-Penc...1QQcmdZViewItem
  17. I should stick with your dealer. Someone at the bottom of the line is losing out.
  18. The Lizzie is a good buy...I haven't seen the Henry V111. I'm basically after a good example of various monarchs and denominations. Of course we all get carried away when we purchase our 50th Edward 1d....but that is the allure of coins especially hammered. When I go to a fair and see an attractive coin it is like love at first sight...eye appeal every time.
  19. Hammered are hard to grade ...you can get as struck which only merit F prices. Your coin is well centred and fairly attractive and unclipped. Lizzies bust wears quickly (Dirty old Sir Walter). What did you pay for it?
  20. Crikey. That forum is going to take some filling. Unfortunatly not my collecting area.
  21. A rare coin indeed at this price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/One-Penny-1937-Rare-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. I've bought a fair bit off Lloyd in the past....great dealer. I just wonder why these happy hands would want to deface coins......but then I find my 10 year old has a few coppers in Coca Cola next to my grots soaking in Olive oil.
  23. Hi Russell In the exurgue (the date) If you have the rarer Heaton or Kings Norton you will see a small H or KN to the left of the date. As it happens these were saved /hoarded at Decimalisation in the early 70's and today are wildly available at below catalogue prices. The commoner issues in top quality are harder to find.
  24. Chris I think you should aim your sales here. However this guy sells so much overgraded tat baffles me. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150006149318
