I agree with your identification, though there are minor differences. It could be either S1176 or 1177. You'll have to weigh it to be certain. (allow for the missing silver). I'd say about £100 but prices depend a lot on who wants it! The damage does affect it, only if it had been whole you could double the value (and more).
Not much to go on - but - as a stab. I'd say it is a farthing of Richard II or Henry IV. Just going on the crown and hairstyle. A better photograph would help, although the lack of decent legends or mint marks makes any attribution a pure guess! Anyone else on the forum got a better idea? The value depends on accurate identification, but could be from a couple of pounds to £100 or more dependent of king and rarety.
I'd make it E3HD-020 (Coincraft) This shows with Cross pattee as the first of the Third or Florin coinage. The trouble is that all the references are dotted with statements like "Sometimes or may have" That leaves an awful lot of variation possibilities! <_
Looking at the way the serrations are irregular and cut into the design, I still favour vandalism, but when - ah! that's a guessing game I can't enter!
I agree - to a point. Some of the 'reputable' dealers are riding high, with prices to match. And now I find that ebay, to some extent, is trying to match the dealers. Perhaps they use the dealer's site as a reference for the price ceiling?

I thought the members struggling to identify hammered pennies would be interested in my latest purchase. It purports to be for beginners, but is extremely useful in the field of hammered pennies. Wren's book
It's hard to give a value on Indian coins as they were still hammering coins into the late 19th century, so they all look old! The last one I tried to get valued, I'd put at 13-14th century, turned out to be common and minted 1890!
For identification of Indian coins I can reccomend this site. An Indian doctor who's study6 of the States coinage is tremendous. He can be e-mailed, but as a practicing doctor, he may take a few weeks to reply. I have found him very helpful. Indian Coinage site
Hammered coins with 'bites' out are acceptable to me. I could never follow my hobby if I collected only whole VF coins - I haven't won the lottery yet! <_
