  3. Another interesting find amongst the hoard, Early 1900's Pre WW1 similar to the Maundy coin, although I take this is a token rather than a coin. Any Ideas how did it come about?
  4. Victoria Half Crown, 1898, it was very mucky covered in crud, It was left in soapy water...over night... as I forgot it was there, very impressed by it condition its turned out to be, just goes to show that gentle cleaning does pay off.....
  5. George IIII, Crown 1816.. counter stamped
  6. George III, 1819 Crown with a fault just below the bust, I thought it was a gash in the coin, just a mint fault πŸ‘
  7. Silver six pence's, George III, Victoria, George V, various Conditions, and the 2nd George III look like it has been glided... possibly passed off as a Half Sovereign ?
  8. aha. its one of the great coin mysteries, I now feel its not genuine and consider it to be a continental contemporary counterfeit πŸ˜•Interestingly I found a pot of six pence's one looks like its been gilded try to pass off as a Half Sovereign, many thanks for looking into this and at least I can now put it rest and move onto the next load I'm working through. all the very best "H"
  9. Hello Coys55 and many thanks for the interest..... I'm now wondering if its a Counterfeit coin? its 17mm across, my scales are the kitchen ones and aren't sensitive enough to weigh, it was the pellets that first had me wondering...many thanks "H"
  10. hello, would you be able to explain... I'm still none the wiser πŸ˜•
  11. errrrmmm Ive not managed to find much out about this one... could it be a half Penny? πŸ˜• I did go right through my spinks book and the arrangement of pellets I couldn't find on any of the coins...... none of my already Identified coins haven't been able to offer any information as to what it may be..... any help will be greatly appreciated. as alwaysπŸ‘
  12. Ahhhh, now that's interesting, to be honest I Identified the coin to be a Charles I, Half Groat, 1638-39........the Briot's Mint came about as it doesn't mention the Tower mint and I took the Anchor to be Briot's..... just adding to the novice confusion the Anchor maybe Upright, Inverted, Horizontal to left or right.....it does however (and quite correctly) it mentions that S2856A as a milled coin by Briot's Mint 2 pages further on.....which i didn't see as I was looking at Hammered only coins. many thanks Rob for the correction πŸ«‘πŸ‘Cheers "H"
  13. Edward I, Penny, new long cross coin from 1279 London Edward I, Penny, 1279-84 Ireland Dublin Mint was delayed kept getting error messages... Grrrrrrrrrggghhh

  17. 1Β½ Pence - Victoria 1st portrait; Colonial issue 1843 ....errmmm Lamination errors ? caught it by looking at different angles... the reverse side seems fine other than the out of line date numbers ...I believe that some over dates are common with some of the Colonial dates....πŸ‘
  18. way back in the pre computer days these coins were dismissed by collectors / hoarders alike,...... I was told to hang on to them as they still had a silver content, these as they turned were stashed and forgotten about ... I seem to think they cost pence whilst sorting out I have discovered x 2 of interest...possibly rarity's ??? Victorian 1820, Canadian Provenances 20 Cents Newfoundland Victorian 1901, Cyprus, 9 Piastres, (minted for 1 year only) ............πŸ‘
