  1. Nice finds. I do a spot of detecting myself. Bought the Garrett Euroace in 2011. Good machine. Had some nice finds with it over the years. Not been out much this year as my permissions sadly expired due to the land owner selling out for housing development. Hopefully find somewhere new before the summers over.
  2. ? ha ha. He's in need of a pair of poundland reading glasses me thinks.
  3. Both excellent examples of a hard to find coin in good condition. Nice coins. ?
  4. He obviously does river bank walks. I often find cow , sheep & horse teeth that get washed up on the banks of the Ribble. Some old some modern it depends whether they have gone in over the past few years or been washed out the banks with erosion. Found a fossilised equus tooth once. Why anyone would buy manky old animal teeth is beyond me. As for that Neolithic tool its just a river rock. The rest of his wares look like £1 land trinkets. I've seen his crap listed under detecting finds before. If it sells its quickly replaced with identical stock. That silly MCL crucifix has sold a few times. Definitely a con man.
  5. Follow Jerrys advice. Push for a refund , ebay will support you fully. Show them the link above that mikes posted. If you come unstuck post back here with any obstacles and amongst us we should be able to help.
  6. I wish i could help you but unfortunately i can't. I only dipped my toes in the water with AR coins. Think i own around 5 all of which came from eBay before i got hit with the fakes which turned me off from collecting in that field as i realised i was out of my depth. It was easy to see they where fake in the hand but not on screen. Silburycoins sell AR coins but they are pricey. Maybe someone else will know of a reputable seller other than eBay. Failing that tread carefully and only buy from sellers you've bought from before with success.
  7. Your better off looking elsewhere for Roman coins. There's so many fakes or tooled AR coins on ebay its unreal. I got stung with a couple of Bulgarian fakes a few years ago on ebay. The seller was based in London but his facebook page revealed he was Romanian which as you know is right next door to Bulgaria. That experience put me off buying Roman coins as i had a right mare getting refunded as the seller insisted on only swapping the coins for other coins within his stock which i refused then he paid me back with an e-cheque which took 14 days to clear.
  8. I put mine in lighthouse flips then seal them in tupperware boxes packed with a few silica gel packs before storing them away if thats any help.
  9. Agreed. They have very little monetary value as they are not coins. When you go to Italy and Greece and Egypt on holiday you can pick up these novelty pieces from the stalls and bizzares. They are specifically made for tourists as souvenirs.
  10. Lol. All the rage in Middlesbrough also apparently! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/metro.co.uk/2016/10/13/mass-chicken-shop-brawl-after-man-tries-to-pay-with-rizla-6190540/amp/
  11. Your welcome Jim. Good luck. ?
  12. Hi Welcome Jim Yes it looks like an Edward Ist Longcross penny. London mint. I struggle to classify these coins into there correct classes so i won't attempt that. Perhaps someone else can. Here's some further reading that may help you on your quest. http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/edwardian-Pennies/Edwardian%20Pennies%20P1.htm Regards Stu.
  13. Congratulations !
  14. Hi. I am looking for the above 1d to complete the set. Fine or AVF or VF if possible. If anyones got one for sale or can hook me up I'd be most appreciative. Thank you. Stuart.
  15. Am actually getting a little concerned over this character now. His facebook page doesn't tie up with Octavian Coins facebook page. I cannot picture that guy being behind Octavian coins facebook page. The Octavian coins facebook page has alot of foreign people as friends where as this Paul Anderson guy doesn't look like he'd know all those people also i cannot find a link between the two on FB. Well dodgy this. Its looking like some kind of ID theft or scam.
  16. According to Spink its Class 11a. ?
  17. So if that's dodgy then so is he lol. According to his Facebook he's worked for Jessops as well. He's got something to do with Redditch football club or the academy at there. He's got a Facebook page under Octavian coins also. Sounds like a bit of a walter mitty character.
  18. So much has changed there. A lot of buildings where pulled down and new ones went up in the lead up to the capital of culture thing. The docklands area has had a lot of work done on it and attracted a lot of businesses to it mostly eateries and trendy bars but good for a quiet night out.
  19. I moved in 2013 up to East Lancashire. Got full custody of my kids and decided to move to hopefully better their futures. Still keep in touch with friends and family there but haven't ventured back.
  20. http://octavian-coins.redditch.uk.amfibi.business/uk/c/146106-octavian-coins
  21. Yeah that's him. Neither of his websites are active. Octavian coins is or was trading from this address : 14 kingfisher walk Redditch, B97 7PX.
  22. I grew up in Liverpool. Lived there 40 years. Never visited Garstang Museum though. Generally all museum coins are cleaned and preserved for display purposes.
  23. I know. I did some background checking on him seeing as he threatened me. His names Paul Anderson. He seems to have been trading under the names of Romeos Romans & Octavian Coins which is a company based in Redditch Worchester. I've got his home adddress ' business address & phone numbers in case he trys to find me. Fancies himself as a marathon runner according to his facebook. Why he'd ruin his reputation in numistimatics circles for a couple of hundred quid flogging a fake coin is beyond me. Hard times!
  24. Thanks Jerry. I didn't realise it was the same guy. He's obviously since damaged the coin to cover up the WRL stamp so he could again attempt to try and sell it on. What a low life eh! Supposedly a coin dealer judging by his ebay user name , crook more like it. He needs blacklisting.
  25. Thanks. I think i will. Out of order that and technically a threat.
