  1. Always the way. It was staring me right in the eye all along. I wonder if its counterfeit? Its not stood the test of time well. It's shagged ?. It looks worse now than it did when i found it.
  2. They are indeed. If only they could tell stories. I often wonder whose handled them in the past. Fascinating hobby. Best of both worlds detecting and collecting.?
  3. I can see that now. I found that years ago detecting. Probably around 2010. It's been in a box ever since. Thanks for your help.
  4. Thank you. Thats definitely it i think. I was way off the mark. Great work! ?
  5. You'll pick it up as you go along. It will become second nature after awhile. You'll find one and be able to just wipe the dirt off and ID it there and then ?
  6. Thats the best way to learn Gaz. You'll make mistakes but its all a learning curve. Took me awhile to suss things out and sometimes i have my niggling doubts especially with the sub classes. Once you understand the letters and styles you've got it sussed , the rest is just checking the monarch then class.
  7. Firstly apologies for posting this in British hammered as its not British i couldn't figure were to post it! I could do with some help identifying this. I've had it for years. I figured it was perhaps something to do with Pope Martin but to be honest thats a shot in the dark. Its roughly the same size as a Longcross penny , about 19mm. Metal wise I'd say it was silvered or low grade debased silver. It has what looks like an eagle on the rear with out stretched claws. Any ideas?
  8. Ok bud. I'll take a picture of it shortly and post it up. Had me stumped for years. Not sure if it's a king or a pope on it. It may not even be a coin, could be a token.
  9. I am stumped then. Can the seller not open each item on there desktop and copy and paste the links out the browser bar on to here individually?
  10. I get that all the time with the mobile version. Sometimes clicking classic site at the bottom of the page remedies it. But if your using a PC or Windows laptop you will have classic running by default. But strangely that isn't working now.
  11. Nice work Gaz. Hope you get the full identity of the little bugger , nothing worse than having a coin and not knowing anything about it. I have a mystery coin that I think is Sicilian. Keep meaning to photograph it and post it up for an ID.

  13. One of mine.
  14. Thank you. Looks to have worked. Good Job! ?
  15. I've got a few early potins. Ones a Leuci and the others a Tricasses or Senones. They were one of the first coins I ever bought due to them being at the time not highly sought after. The one Craig's posted above looks similar to my Leuci. Head on one side with a boar on the reverse.
  16. I was going to say when i first saw it earlier on where's the foil gone off it!

  18. I bet your heart sunk a little when you realised it was a base metal core. Still a great find though. Not many people find anything like that. Nice find matey.
  19. Great find. ?
  20. It's great. Its easy to read. Ticks all the boxes for me. Nice one!
  21. That's a real beauty. What's the reverse like? I have a couple of ex mass short cross coins.
  22. I started doing this with sixpences from Edward VI upto Eliz II. Still work in progress but not far off.
  23. Thanks. It is. Quite an exciting discovery. I expect it will find its way into future publications / guides.
  24. Found a reference to it again with image's. If anybody else is interested or intrigued here's the link https://mobile.twitter.com/detectingdigsuk/status/711679605057388545
