  1. That's what it's all about ladies and gentlemen...Knowing what your customers want before they even know it themselves
  2. I got this in Chemnitz yesterday. It's Oli's mate Wilhelm II of Wuertemberg, this time, without his lady wife. This is a 1914F choice UNC 3 Mark with wonderful prooflike fields, especially on the obv. In the 2006 Battenburg book it lists as EUR100.00 in UNC and EUR35.00 in EF. There are a few dirty marks and the edge from the reverse has some small knocks. Yours for £25.00 Oli, which is about the current EF value.
  3. Here's a picture of it Geoff.
  4. That's what Westminster Collection are all about, in my opinion. Hyping up anything the can lay their hands on in enough quantity and selling it to the unexpecting for too much money.
  5. Possible isn't it. No a lot of Roman finds come out of the earth in Celtic Wales so I hear.
  6. Well, I'm pleased you ask! I finished adding all the high quality images right up to Charles II, and have sent the full PDF to the proof-reader. I enjoyed reading it as I was going along very much. I am tring to get a picture of the Moneyer Dave Greenhalgh in medieval gear striking a coin for the front cover, but I think I might actually have to visit him and take a picture myself! Once the cover and proof read are done it'll be ready to print so it should certainly be ready within a few months.
  7. You heard it first here.... A man in Wales, while laying a pipe in a field found a hoard of 2300+ Roman coins dating from 250 - 295AD. I think most are base metal. He has registered the find officially and the Crown will buy them from him to be put in a museum. He found them on his own land, so won't have to split the money! I'll post more details when I know anything. I think it's possibly the biggest ever Welsh Roman coin hoard. For obvious reasons I will not reveal his identity.
  8. I have a very simple metal detector (A Bounty Hunter Tracker IV). What do you use?
  9. How much does the farmer want as his half? And how can you put an accurate value on it?
  10. Bumping this, or he'll never notice, and I can't be bothered to email!
  11. All the same though, if is has not been previously mentioned in here, then it's good that someone has linked to it.
  12. Damn right goodheart. Selling anything is about presentation, that's including the description and layout, but most important is always the image.
  13. You really didn't need to go to those lengths! I'm surprised actually that Spink gave you the time of day, especially as I believe they are short of a modern milled expert at the moment.
  14. Talking of Rolf Harris I'm actually in contact with his PA. in '72 my dad did a gig with him and I have photograhic evidence (also on the Rolf Harris website). Rolf has offed to sign the pictures.
  15. Geoff, I know you're from the Wirral area and into music and medals, so I couldn't resist a little sterling silver medal at the recent London coin fair. It's 30mm in dia with a loop attached to the top. On the obverse it has 'WIRRAL MUSICAL FESTIVAL 1912'. On the reverse is a wreath around the edge with the centre blank for engraving. The reverse is hallmarked, as is the silver loop. A lovely little thing, and it's yours for £15 including postage.
  16. Yes it is, I have lots like that. Many are pretty good quality and many are completely free from silver remains.
  17. Have I missed much?
  18. I've had a number of wreath crown listings ripped off by far easteners. I try to report them when I can, and they do get removed (although you never get a thankyou from ebay of course).
  19. I read recently that there is a couple of these cars in the USA. When they were new they were not exported, but nowadays it is possible to get them road legal in America. Shipping is probably expensive...Why don't you fly over and drive it back across Russia/Alaska?
  20. Isn't it amazing that when a novice has a coin of a certain date, that very often they assume it's the rarest and most valuable type by default. They look in a book, which is a good start of course, but they seem to completely ignore the lower values and lower grades! It's an interesting phonemenon (sp!) The doubling of the date numerals is quite common on coins of this era Mell.
  21. If you have a rough idea of what you're doing, it can be practical, cheap and reliable to have an older car...But you need to be an enthusiast really, and of course it helps if you live in the country you keep the car!
  22. Yes it is! I'd forgotten about that. It got all the way from Kent to Milton Keynes and back with the greatest of ease. I remember that was before the new coil so it ran pretty rough when properly warm at that time. I also visited a customer near Reading during the week I saw you. I'd be happy with £500 I suppose, just to get it out of the way so I have one less commitment.
  23. When Triumph No.14 is gone, I'll be without a Triumph, for the first time in 10 years http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  24. Are you on the left or the right Tom Goodheart? (although I've met you, so that joke doesn't relly make sense)
  25. I don't think that's really Krasnaya_vityaz, so it looks like you're the only one!
