  1. I've used that one already too!! Do I have our permission HPJ, now that you own it? I have done the Halfpennies 1902-36, but at this stage all the values are just copied out of the 2004 edition. When I've done the book (which will be a copy of the 2004 with colour pictures) I'll check the Rotographic database for prices, assign tasks, and ask you chaps to tell me what you can find.
  2. I already have! But I just have room for the obv at the moment.
  3. Just to annouce that Colin Cooke has given me permission to use his pictures in the next Collectors' Coins book. Fantastic news, because it would have been very difficult to source good enough quality pictures of some coins from my own previously used images. So the printed greyscale version should be great, but the pdf will be fantastic, with zoomable 300dpi full colour images on every page. I'm up to page 19 with the text now, and have probably inserted about 50% of the images up to there.
  4. The thing is, do these people actually seriously wonder why thier 'VF' coins don't sell for actual VF prices?? I bet they must think that Spink coins are well over priced! Thank god they have pictures.
  5. Your being silly! I got one of those the other month, and it was exactly as you describe.
  6. One for you custard1966....This one is not only VF, it also has lustre! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3913161912&rd=1 I need say no more.
  7. It's worth 5p if you can find a bank to take it in. If in mint condition it may be worth up to £1 or so.
  8. It'll be worth 50p if you can find a bank to take it in. Unless it's in mint condition.
  9. That's much better, I like that.
  10. Ok, well done, you seem to have changed it from your first revision.
  11. Yes, so tone it down a bit, your probably breaking the trade desrciption act!
  12. But that would by lying, and it would leave our non regular guests with a false sense of security! As if the young man known as 'Master Jmd collection' didn't already do that in his lengthy profile!
  13. I tell you what gets on my nerves, and it happens a lot.... People assume that because modern Crowns have a £5 face value, that the old Crowns must do too. People actually want 5 whole pounds for their churchill etc crowns! Of course when I tell them the actual 25p truth I rarely hear anything back, which normally is quite rude, but on those occasions, I don't want the bloody things anyway!
  14. Just to divulge a little, can I ask how you can possibly a Half Penny expert aged 15? Please don't think me rude, but real study to expert status in any given field takes a lot of time and learning. I appreciate you have a geniune interest and a wonderful growing collection, but I dont think you're quite up with Dr Nicolson yet. I probably know more about halfpennies than you, but I wouldn't even think about calling myself an expert, not for at least 20 years! Tone it down a bit old chap, or you'll end up getting invited for Mastermind or something.
  15. It does if untouched and you get to 500 posts!
  16. Ploggy said it's 1916. If it's in average/worn condition it won't be worth much I'm afraid. I'm selling this one (and it's been there a while!) for 50p: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/penny1917.jpg
  17. I don't mind both, but I prefer a good cuppa. Unfortunately with lack of the right tea bags/milk/water and tea making knowledge it's not easy in Germany unless you import it and make your own.
  18. Blimey, I'd better get mine when next in the UK before the Churchill Crown bubble bursts!
  19. Yes they're condor tokens, probably not worth a huge amount (and of course dependant on grade). I think someone around here has a book on them, but you'll probably have to research them online to get value ideas. I know someone who wants me to publish a book on that area, so come back in a year or so, or keep an eye out!
  20. but what?...on adobe you can save it to disk and then print it...and people could still use the print screen button as a way of printing/copying it... I think you have a lot to learn young Master Jmd, and a lot to grasp (as usual). I would have no trouble getting people to find the download as I already sell near enough 400 of the printed copy via online methods every year. To offer an alternative download version on my website, and to get the other current sellers of the title with a website to do the same would hardly be too much trouble. I will also be promoting the website in the books, so that's another load of curious visitors coming my way. A 20mb pdf would not fit on a floppy disk. And the fact it can be copied onto paper is no big deal....The book itself could be photocopied quite easily (but that involves a lot of effort and a loss in quality). The only real worry is CD duplication because it's quick, easy, involves no loss of quality, and is possible. You can of course save PDF's to disk, having a local copy that you've paid for is the whole point, and I've talked about printing in the paragraph above. What I need to do is offer an incentive to download the original, perhaps something like 'All registered downloaders get next years version at half price, and access to the databases'. Please don't reply with something not very well thought out Master Jmd, it gets on my nerves and I'm likely to delete it!!
  21. Done that.... I know how important the tab order is, and it was right, it was just being affected by the email entry form to the left. Refresh and it'll work.
  22. I'm a little afraid of offering it as a download, because it would be possible for anyone to burn CD's of it and give them out to friends! That would of course be illegal, but I know it goes on and I'd rater not loose revenue that way.
  23. Zipping a pdf will only reduce it by 10% at the most. If I do decide to provide it as a download, you'll have to leave it overnight to get the full thing! Or I could provide the abilitly to download each page....But early days, I need to get it finished first, and it's taken a week to partially complete 11 pages!
