  1. You'd better join and post a scan.
  2. Thanks everyone for making this the biggest British coin forum in the world (as far as I can see!). Have nice Christmas's and if I don't see you, all the best for 2005 and I'll speak to you then.
  3. Depends on the weather. I had trouble getting down the road last night, god knows what february will be like. And I have a new book coming out early feb (a revised Roman Base Metal Coin book) so I'll probably need to stick around and talk some people into buying it.
  4. Gallus looks like a big monkey with hair all over his face :s
  5. You're more than welcome to send it to me. The book will be £5.95 like the last, and a CD of the author approved version is on its way to the Proofreader. I have penciled in publication for Feb 5th, to give plenty of time to get a nice cover done.
  6. You say that now, but it is quite natural to move further back as you gain confidence. And many ancient coins are not expensive.
  7. Like who? Amazon are stocking them, and getting them from Gardners books (I think) Ottakers have them too. WH Smith online will soon have some. Abe books have had previous editions, but are not showing the latest yet. Hopefully their records will soon be updated.
  8. You could have that one for bullion value William, which is around £55.00.
  9. It sounds like a bronze 1897 diamond jubilee medal. Not worth a great amount of money, but I suspect, as is often the case, the proprietor of the collectable shop also has no idea what it is! If it's a nice one, get it for a tenner. More if it's perfect. Although I normally come across the silver version. Geoff, is this the bronze diamond jubilee medal, and are they as common as the silver version?
  10. Yes, the accessories and books go a bit mad. It's quieter now of course as people know it's too late for Christmas.
  11. No, they're secret at the moment. I have quite a lot of stuff that I simply haven't had the time to put up. I'll sort some pictures out.
  12. I have quite a few nice Veiled Victoria Maundy sets, do they take your fancy?
  13. Finally! I have an official order for 1000 CCGB2005 from WHS!! There are only 2200 books left now, and it's not even 2005 yet. DAS predicted I would need to do a 2nd printing at Easter time, lets hope he's right.
  14. The 1887 Half is absolutely stunning, and the 1871 Sov too. As is the 1884M, but there is no picture of that yet.
  15. I've listed a few gold coins on the website just now: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/gold.htm Sylvester will recognise one of them (I didn't sell it yet!)
  16. I've seen I think "North Wales" tokens with the Obverse Legend 'George Rules' and a harp on the back. It's possible they also exist with "George III Rules". They also tend to be a little smaller than regal Halfpennies, with quite crude portraits.
  17. Dawn, You should separate the pre 1947 silver coins, count the face value and let me know how many of those you have. Separate the post 1947 silver coins and all the bronze coins by denomination and let me know how many of each you have. Then I'll be able to give you a price based on face value, assuming all the coins are average circulated.
  18. Your insticts probably aren't far off! If it's just some kind of novelty privately struck coin without a face value it'll probably be worth very little, according to interest. I wouldn't really like to say.
  19. I really want to add something about the value of modern proof sets/coins, but I won't! Great name "Motorhead". Lemmy was in Germany recently, a friend of my girlfriend went to a gig. My mate Scott once bumped into him in some Rock club, he was playing on a fruit machine!
  20. She's certainly sounds the best person to shout at
  21. JMD, the writing is the legend.
  22. Steady on, you shouldn't go making that kind of thing public!
  23. WH Smith have ordered 1000 books verbally, but need to send me a proper order to make it official. So that's about 2700 books gone, 2300 to go!
  24. Yes, I'm the one with the beautiful hair!
  25. Actually, I think it's about time I ventured up North to meet the Northern Core of this forum, especially Geoff, Oli, Sylvester. You're all roughly around Manchester aren't you.
