  1. It sounds like a bronze 1897 diamond jubilee medal. Not worth a great amount of money, but I suspect, as is often the case, the proprietor of the collectable shop also has no idea what it is! If it's a nice one, get it for a tenner. More if it's perfect. Although I normally come across the silver version. Geoff, is this the bronze diamond jubilee medal, and are they as common as the silver version?
  2. Yes, the accessories and books go a bit mad. It's quieter now of course as people know it's too late for Christmas.
  3. No, they're secret at the moment. I have quite a lot of stuff that I simply haven't had the time to put up. I'll sort some pictures out.
  4. I have quite a few nice Veiled Victoria Maundy sets, do they take your fancy?
  5. Finally! I have an official order for 1000 CCGB2005 from WHS!! There are only 2200 books left now, and it's not even 2005 yet. DAS predicted I would need to do a 2nd printing at Easter time, lets hope he's right.
  6. The 1887 Half is absolutely stunning, and the 1871 Sov too. As is the 1884M, but there is no picture of that yet.
  7. I've listed a few gold coins on the website just now: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/gold.htm Sylvester will recognise one of them (I didn't sell it yet!)
  8. I've seen I think "North Wales" tokens with the Obverse Legend 'George Rules' and a harp on the back. It's possible they also exist with "George III Rules". They also tend to be a little smaller than regal Halfpennies, with quite crude portraits.
  9. Dawn, You should separate the pre 1947 silver coins, count the face value and let me know how many of those you have. Separate the post 1947 silver coins and all the bronze coins by denomination and let me know how many of each you have. Then I'll be able to give you a price based on face value, assuming all the coins are average circulated.
  10. Your insticts probably aren't far off! If it's just some kind of novelty privately struck coin without a face value it'll probably be worth very little, according to interest. I wouldn't really like to say.
  11. I really want to add something about the value of modern proof sets/coins, but I won't! Great name "Motorhead". Lemmy was in Germany recently, a friend of my girlfriend went to a gig. My mate Scott once bumped into him in some Rock club, he was playing on a fruit machine!
  12. She's certainly sounds the best person to shout at
  13. JMD, the writing is the legend.
  14. Steady on, you shouldn't go making that kind of thing public!
  15. WH Smith have ordered 1000 books verbally, but need to send me a proper order to make it official. So that's about 2700 books gone, 2300 to go!
  16. Yes, I'm the one with the beautiful hair!
  17. Actually, I think it's about time I ventured up North to meet the Northern Core of this forum, especially Geoff, Oli, Sylvester. You're all roughly around Manchester aren't you.
  18. Anyone entering at this point might think this is the British Transvestite forum, not British Coins! Isn't it normal to wear a dress and call ones self Shirley at weekends Sylvester?
  19. Picture wise I've seen a lot worse! Some of the emails I get, you wouldn't know they were pictures of coins unless you ran a coin website!
  20. It's Dutch Indies colonial I believe, probably it was once currency in Sri Lanka. Most are quite common, but I'm afraid I don't have a book to cover that period. From the grade I wouldn't think it was worth too much at all.
  21. Yes, but surely a little ruler like drawing on each page simply denominated up to say 40mm so that you can use it to measure your coins might be of some use. The book doesn't mention sizes of weights. What do you think?
  22. We (Dad and I) ended up being on intermitently from 3-5pm, but it wasn't the best programme, as the quality of the calls was rubbish. So you didn't miss much.
  23. Sounds like you need a CCGB2005 tub: http://www.predecimal.com/books/ccgb2005framed.htm
  24. Chaps, I think our efforts and my constant pestering may have paid off.... I finally got a reply from WHS HQ via email, with a very complicated form to fill in. I had to up their discount by 5% and re-affirm that the titles were Sale or Return, but I do think they will be taking stock. Probably too late for Christmas, but hopefully they'll shift at least 1000 over 2005. But I really have no idea what all these codes and complicated stuff means in the form!
  25. The Isle of Man St George is Pap, but I really quite like the 1935 Art Deco St George, it was very much the style of the time.
