I think it already contains more variety listings than any other price guide by quite a margin. I think varieties should be listed and as many as possible, but only if they have an effect on the value of the coin.

Those varieties are so difficult to explain without pictures, I think they are too advanced for CCGB2006! Like you say, it could easily be 250 pages thick, and it's a bit beyond the scope to go that far. Most dealers would just charge the same amount for each without even looking.

Vinegar will certainly not make them collectable! But the chances are they were ruined in the earth before you put them in vinegar. What are the silver ones like? Usually silver does better than copper underground. It may be best that you take them out of the vinegar, rinse them and let me see pictures.

It'll be an X (for REX, the Latin for King) If it's only slightly larger than a 1912 Penny and twice as thick, it's sure to be a penny (they were bigger then)

I know some very attractive over 30's...Even over 40's. Beggars can't be choosers. In many cases I would say that older is better when ladies are concerned too!

With my publishing hat on, I have often thought about trying to re publish Peck, or Freeman, or a newer ESC. Then I get put off my the massive amount of work and the fact that no one outside the 'coin world' will ever need one. I expect the reason that these books are not produced more often is that economically they simply will never sell like a Harry Potter. It's sad, but most businesses will always concentrate on what they know they can make the most money on. If only Peck had been compiled digitally, it could then be printed off and bound at will with no risk involved for the publisher. Peter, copy out your Peck into a Word file, go to the British Museum, get it fully updated with all the new findings then I'll publish it on demand for you!

I'm not sure either, but I ought to change it in the next edition to be the date on the coin!
