Morocco, date is in arabic. It's very modern, French colonial, actually 1933AD in Christian dating. Worth about £10 in mint condition, just £1 or so if it's less than perfect.
  2. http://www.predecimal.com/british_gold_coins.htm for size info. I can supply capsules for it, but they just come in 10's. 16 or 16.5mm should be big enough. It'll be worth more or less bullion value unless in mint condition, in which case probably a few pounds more.
  3. It sounds like you're all over the place Anthony. Here are some tips: Think about what you want your website to contain, think about the URL, the webspace, plan things, perhaps on paper first, then launch something. Importantly too; learn about how to promote websites, keywords, search engine optimisation etc. You cannot simply create a website one day with no idea about the direction or the niche. To be a serious coin dealer you need to provide a website that coin collectors will find useful and want to re-visit. It doesn't necessarily need to contain many coins for sale, but it really needs to be well thought up, and have a direction. Yours doesn't, and it should never even have left your head until it did. The few people that visit your website in the early stages are among the most important....Any first time visitor is the most important type, because you want them to keep coming back. After about 100 visits, you've changed the domain name, so now the people that had taken the time to visit you will never find you again unless they read this thread....If I was one of them I wouldn't bother coming back! Any decent hosting package should include in depth statistics without the need for a pop up generating counter. To do it seriously you have to outlay money and be prepared to learn a lot. If you want to start any business you really cannot do things by half, you have to give it your all. The website contains broken links, you don't want any of those, get rid of them. The price structure is not clear (as previously mentioned), and I really don't mean to be rude, but your grammar and spelling is awful (as we have previously discussed). If you type too fast that's ok in an email, and even in a forum (to a degree), but on a published web page there is absolutely no excuse. You need to check things through before you save the page. Errors should never get to be seen by the visitors if you can avoid it. If you don't know how to puctuate very well, or spell properly, I would suggest that the most important step, before you even try to sell any coins, would be to learn. Use free info from websites, or do an English GCSE evening class. Whatever that costs it will be an asset for your whole life and will help people take you and everything you write more seriously. It isn't easy at first. In fact it's bloody difficult to build a popular website on anything. And you have a very long road ahead before you can give up your day job!
  4. I think you'll find that Anthony has listed every single coin, but just has prices where he has a coin available.
  5. And there is a George VI Canadian Nickel which is a very similar sized coin with 12 (I think) sides, and it's a very bright silver colour, so make sure it isn't one of those.
  6. For search engine rankings, a .co.uk website hosted on a server that doesn't paste pop ups all over the place, would be much better. Not to mention better for the visitors.
  7. Yes, I have selected Kuhli, who is an experienced collector and has all the right books. Sorry Mitch. I'll close this topic now.
  8. Absolutely, yes what a fabulous idea. I have been impressed by the knowledge you have demonstated here Kuhli. You do seem to have the right books and you certainly know how to use them! email me to tell me what email address (anything@predecimal.com) you would like. And I'll set it up and then start directing the questions to you. I look forward to working with you.
  9. I have such a backlog of emails, most of it is from people offering me a load of rubbish. It's only polite to reply of course, but even writing the odd paragraph here and there seems to take up most of the day at the moment. So, I was wondering if any of you keen young folk (or older folk) would be able to help out? I plan to set up a yourname@predecimal.com email address and give it to the lucky applicant. What I'll then do is put that email address in the 'Buying Coins area' and also make it the destination of some of the web forms on predecimal.com Your job will be to reply to people thanking them for their message, and usually to ask them for more details...Dates, pictures, lists etc. When you know exactly what the emailer has, you can email me a list, or forward the email with the list etc. After a very short while, you'll get to know exactly what most people seem to have, what most people think has value, and usually that's the kind of stuff I don't want! Hopefully, you'll be able to filter off the churchill crowns, 1977 Jubilee crowns and other rubbish before it gets to me. This task will involve trust, because I'll need to be confident that you don't turn people down with Una and the Lion Proof sets and the like! The volume of emails should not be more than 20 a week at the very most, in fact it's not the numbers that are a problem, it's the time involved finding out exactly what people have that eats into my day so much...Only to find out it's scrap metal. As for payment, well, if we manage to buy anything I'll certainly give a comission depending on what it is, and I'll also do you plenty of favours on predecimal.com coins, accessories and books. I think it would perhaps suit a young person more, as it really should be a good learning experience. And who knows, in the future you could end up having a much more official role within the growing Predecimal.com empire! Any thought, or applicants, talk in here please.
  10. Does it have a 3.5 or 2.5mm Headphone jack?
  11. There are a high proportion in the South East, no doubt about that. The next time I go to Kent I want to get some mates together and change all the road signs that point to Chatham, to read 'Chavham' But that would probably make me a chav.....We'll do it in suits!
  12. I know you people are all coin people, and so am I! As most of you will know, I had the daunting task of making a few books new and improved. I did the CCGB2005 and the "Roman Base Metal Coins - A Price Guide" myself, and I'm lucky enough to have found someone to re-new the established "Collectors' Coins Ireland". I also have a very nice man working on "Roman Silver Coins - A Price Guide" and 3 other people working on brand new books. The George III coin book was not top priority.... But, the banknote book was top priorty, and I have not been unable to get anyone to do it for me! I had someone interested, but they wanted to publish it themselves too, and we can't have that can we. Other banknote experts were too busy, and/or working on books of there own. So, I'm doing it myself, and I can say that it is quite a learning curve. I've purchased a couple of good banknote reference books and I'm in the process of creating "Collectors' Bank notes 2006" (that title will probably remain unchanged) right now. I'll still need help with the price gathering, perhaps I'll ask you lot to help out with that. For anyone that wants to see, this is a link to the first 20 pages: http://www.rotographic.co.uk/books/BankNotes2006.pdf There are a few gaps here and there, mainly concerning missing pictures and the contents page. The images are all low resolution and compressed in this sample, to make it an easy size to download. The printed version and final download versions will of course be sharper. What do you think? I'm actually starting to get in to banknotes a bit as I'm doing this! By the way, all the images so far are of notes that belong to me....I had to buy a whole collection so that I could make good enough scans of the notes. There will probably be a banknote section appearing on predecimal.com when the book is done, to sell the notes through (if I don't keep them!)
  13. That's probably 4 days longer than you'll manage!
  14. If it's an average example with signs of average circulation it won't be worth much I'm afraid. To have a value if will need to be better than average, with good amounts of hair detail on the king and definition on the reverse too. A mint condition example will be a dark shiny black colour, as they were all chemically darken at that time to avoid be confused as Half Sovereigns.
  15. The sov in a mount will probably be worth bullion value too, as mounting coins is bad in the eyes of collectors. No matter what kind of mount it is, it would have caused irrepairable damage to the coin.
  16. I hope not, there's enough competition for the CCGB!
  17. I expect Lobel would want a massive sum for it, and it would probably need someone already in the coin trade to do it justice. Is there anyone with the time, money, inclination and suitability I wonder....Possibly not.
  18. Yeah, I know what it is! I've always had a link to prdecimal.com in my listings. I had had things stopped a few times, but only because I was selling something that was available cheaper by following the predecimal.com link. Maybe the rules are different there.
  19. A link to your website would have been a good idea too....i didn't see one.
  20. Well if he gets that much for it I'll be very distressed, as I sold a better one with some lustre for just over £3000 late last year!
  21. It'll be worth about £26 (bullion value) unless it's in perfect condition. Check it's a half and not a full sov...It should be about 19mm diameter.
  22. And what's this doing in here?
  23. You see them on the telly in Germany, on the day time equivalent of Trisha etc. They don't quite have the same dress code, but you still find yourself wondering why on earth these useless individuals don't get jobs and sort out their lives. Mainly I find myself wondering what purpose they have on this earth, apart from being exploited on daytime TV and being there to fill up council flats that should really never have been built (note: not all council flat tenants are chavs). Any of you people know East London at all??? (probably not). There's this building you see to the right when travelling down the A12 and a couple of miles from the mouth of the Blackwall tunnel (at one point it's in the same view as Canary Wharf). It is absolutely the most awful beige double block of council flats (joined with elevated walkways) that I have ever seen in any town of city in either the UK or Germany. It is my most hated building by a long way, and thousands of people have to look at it everyday when queuing to go under the tunnel. I expect it's full to the brim with Chavs! That area (which is probably part of Bow) has a large population of asian and black people. I've noticed that all the Chavs I've seen so far have been white. Do asian or black chavs exist?
  24. Use them as antique paperweights.
