I have one of those 1721 over 1720 - though in pretty awful condition. I think this is the second one I have had through my hands.

As there is no automated way of translating, I think you'd be better off posting in English Enzo. That appears to be a Freddie Mercury silver proof £5. One of the Royal Mint's 'Music Legends' series. It might even be the one they are currently peddling.

The 1200 dpi is for analyzing and comparing the punches and it's only just enough. Stu's scans are probably in the 600dpi range and is quite sufficient to compare the dies for now and hopefully there'll more sunlight in the future to get a close-up picture of the over date. 🙂

Could you guys take a careful look at this big 36g lump of bronze carefully please 🙏 Totally flat back on it and all I can see is what seems to be a bull with rider facing right. Either that or the meds are too strong! Any info would be much appreciated, thanks in advance 👍

Not my area, but I would agree. Leaving aside the details on the coin there are two other red flags: Brand new seller - this is his first sale; he has excluded the supposed grading details from the picture. Shows enough to make you think it has been officially graded but no company or registration info included. I hope no one falls for it.

It was more hardware limitations than digitally challenged. I was a computer technician & IT teacher in a previous life. Early 2000s anyway until approx 2009 . The scanner is from around 2015 so pretty old. My laptop died a few months ago but my daughter kindly gave me her old one which runs okay but everything seems to take forever with it. I upgraded the ram on it last year for her but it's not made much difference in regards to performance. Anyway i managed the scans , they where nowhere near 1200 dpi but they were adequate for what was needed. Stu.

I often scan my pictures in at 350 and the quality is adequate for a 500k maximum size. Even when I have a 1200dpi scan, the image quality is only an issue if you want to keep the original at that level. By the time you have cropped it to the required size, the image often seems to have reduced to a smaller footprint than originally anticipated.

1200dpi in scanner terms is very intense. I think my coin scans were about 300dpi to get a reasonable size and good quality... ensure they are output as jpg files.

500k should normally be plenty for a decent sized image. The one below is just 161k (it doesn't have a lot of actual detail because it's a new modern coin, but even so).

Copy the pictures and post the reduced size image, or alternatively stick them in a zip file. Don't know how to do the latter, but it might help. Feels strange that someone with a 'Help for the digitally challenged thread' should be giving advice.

Yes. It looks like a cud, where a piece of metal has become trapped between the dies when struck, hence the excess metal. It could have been a flaw flaw which was the source of the metal or something external, but it ain't right. I suggested the latter because of the mess underneath the top of the F too. 3-D pictures required to be certain.

I have been looking at some duplicates coins in regards to keeping or moving on...... I scrutinised this one and checked its condition......I found that the letter E on the Reverse looks like its either deformed or part missing? there's no sign of wear or damage to the rest of the coin..... Could it be that it left the mint like this? Many thanks "H"

What a mission. Think I've managed it. I had limitations with the software not allowing me to scan over 300 dpi. Found a work around and finally after much crashing of my antiquated laptop trying to use the HP software i managed it. It set it to 1200 dpi as that was the highest it could go but the images do not look that great so i don't know. If you could send me a pm with an email address i will send them over. They are 3 mb each. Not going to chance reducing the quality on here to 500kb to get them on as they will look awful and be of no use. If they are no good i will have to try and catch a window of opportunity with the sun to photograph them. We had roughly 25 mins of sun today before it went black again Stu.

Aha..and as I have read.....it came about due to King Charles I was executed for high treason in 1649, after a civil war pitting his supporters against Parliament for control of the country...... 🤔
