Ok guys, calm down, maybe I'm out of touch on this one. I'll have to put my 2 spares on Ebay - they're only GF but cost  £25 and £17 15 years ago.

IMHO eBay will let you down on this one, Richard, sell it to a fellow collector you will likely get the same, if not more after ebay/paypal fees. Or consign them, I still think you'll get more.

Are we talking at cross purposes here ? Laurie Bamford only collected Victorian pennies. I've been talking about 1946 ONE' pennies.

Yes, we're talking 1897 dot. Now everything is making more sense :)

Santa, I think Matt and Pete are right. Look at this one and it's not even as scarce as the 1897 Dot.

Oh dear, time for a lie down I think. Why did I think you were discussing 1946 pennies ?

Please ignore all future posts from me, I'm clearly going downhill fast.

Not a problem will still give you £501:)

To add to this thread.

I have studied a lot of Pennies that the provenance is wrong.

Check the auction sites/catalogues as a lot are sold with provenance that does not resemble the coin.

Good provenance, definitely ex Bamford, Michael Freeman did own the ex C W Peck coin. Laurie Bamford won many of MJF, coins. Well done !

The pictures are available on the Christie's Auction Catalogue. Though the pictures themselves are not great, the catalogue itself is one of the more substantial sources of reference for ex Freeman coins yet.

Is the catalogue online or hard copy only?
