My eldest daughter looks like taking her car test soon and my youngest has asked for lessons.

I've seen the Renault at a local dealer and I want to surprise them.

Good points are a safe car,£30 tax and average 65mpg (low mileage 41k)full service history, group 3 insurance.

Fully equipped with goodies.

Has anyone had nightmares with these cars?

We've already got L plates on my wife's coupe and they have hinted they would like to on my MG's insurance.

We live out in the sticks and both are embarking on course's locally.

I really need to get them married off to rich farmers. :)

No experience with them myself Peter though Dad had several Renaults and was happy with them all.

Certainly preferable to insuring the MG anyway!

Oddly, when daughter was starting to learn we asked our insurers (Direct Line) about her driving our Skoda. They just said 'no'

It's not even the VRS version, just a modest 1.4 TSi wtf?

Anyway, she's in France now, so driving is no longer a priority at the mo.

:D

My MG insurance is surprising low (full no claims and an old git)It is my bodywork I worry about.

If it's relevant I recently had a problem with some youths on my property. They mouthed off and I let them drive away before going after them. Managed to catch up to their Renault Clio and nearly managed to achieve my objective before they sped through a red light out into the country. On a straight road I couldn't even get close in my X-type Jaguar and believe me I was trying. Basically I'm saying it's a surprisingly nippy little car which may or may not be a plus from a fathers point of view.

If anyone is interested the outcome was the police raided the owners house at 3.00 in the morning which apparently greatly upset his parents whom he lived with. We haven't seen them again :-)

My first Motability car was a Clio and I had absolutely no problems with it at all. Nice little cars. My second was a Corsa, and didn't offer half of what the Clio offered, thought both were extremely reliable. (I would say the Vauxhall was less well made).

I run mechanical/bodyshop and i tell you from my experience - AVOID Renaults.

Get her a little Fiesta or Corsa. They are much better cars.

Someone here that can fix cars! Where are you based goomolique??

Mrs Peter took the girls to see the car and of course they wanted different ones.

Will have to be sorted on Saturday.

What colour is it?

Vert pomme, but Goom can anglicise (fix) that. ;)

But French pommes aren't vert! They're a horrible sort of spotty pasty yellow, and described, laughably, as "Delicious"...

Blame the translation offered on a google search. Apparently it means pea-green.
