Coinery Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'm just so flipping annoyed at my most recently delivered package 371060410977 (link to seller please!)! It cost .99p (plus £1.25 2nd class 'letter' postage) for two variety 1967 half pennies...OK, so one could argue 'what do you expect'? But for me, this was a seller who knew enough about coins to list the varieties, yet was casual/uncaring enough to post them clanging together through our postal system in a shared plastic wallet...they were clanging like church bells, even picking them up from the post office! Why, just because they cost .99p should the seller pack them without care? I don't want bag marks on my coins, at least not addition ones from slopping packing! If they were £1k per piece that wouldn't happen (I hope)?I put a lot of time and effort into selecting pieces that look half decent, I really don't want to trust in god that they arrive as I saw them in the images, just because I didn't spend £50 on them! I could properly swear about this one...I'm furious! Quote
Paulus Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 (edited) I must admit I share your annoyance Stuart! Not quite up to your standard of packaging!! He deserves some poor feedback methinks ...link to seller Edited May 17, 2014 by Paulus Quote
pies Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'd leave a comment like "Ex high grades due to poor packaging" Quote
HistoricCoinage Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I've had hammered coins parcel taped to cards leaving horrible residue and fragile hammered coins put in padded envelopes loose. There are some people out there who lack common sense... Quote
Peter Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Surely a quality coin wouldn't feel at home in your old bargie thingie. You keep buying these modern coins. Quote
Coinery Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Surely a quality coin wouldn't feel at home in your old bargie thingie. CAN'T ARGUE WITH THAT, PETER! You keep buying these modern coins. AT .99p IT KEEPS THE OCD SIDE OF ME OCCUPIED AT A TIME I CAN'T EVEN JUSTIFY A .99p SPEND...BUT I STILL DO! Quote
Peter Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I've just bought Chris's latest post decimal coin book.Collecting on the cheap. I've also just got British Coins Market values 2014.They are so out of touch on copper/bronze. Very few known varieties ...Whoosh.However they have so many advertisers.Mrs Peter works from home telesales.I have discussed her workload and I reckon I will approach Chris with an idea.I need to put a spreadsheet together to see how wrong they are on their pricing. All part of the plan.Their price for a 1771 1/4d in VF is £45 no types ID'd.1859 VF for £15 The book is going to the bottom of the pile......of shite. Their predecessor's - Coins and Medals Annual - 1970 issue listed a BU 1932 penny at £50 (a fortnight's average wage), and a BU 1797 2d at £35. Even by the standards of the time, that's - as you so eloquently put it - shite. Quote
