Unconfirmed Davies 1970 Proof Halfcrown!

Just out of interest, does anyone know the relative scarcity, or not, of the D2338 proof (2+C)?

Dave G has it down as 4+D but, of course, it was unconfirmed in Davies, but the same coin nonetheless.

I only ask as I picked one up the other day!

The then unconfirmed Davies has I to bead, and the B to space...Groom (4+D)

Edit: forgot to add...on the, what I presume to be the more common issue, the the B is to bead, and I of Gratia to right of bead!

When I was working on that part of my collection a I don't recall sweating over getting that example, I actually had to buy the 2339 from a split set as the 2338 was the first one I got in a set. Could have just been very lucky of course.

The Halfcrown, Florin and Sixpence are all unconfirmed in Davies, they are all quite easy to find. The 1970 obverse 3 Halfpenny is a real tough one to find. Michael Freeman doesn't list it in his book, I think Gouby had it mentioned on his site but never had one listed for sale. I have only ever found one from dozens of 1970 proof sets I've had and I used to look on eBay before too and checked dozens and didn't find another. Freeman mentions 2 reverses for 1970 too paired with obvere 4, I and K, I have never bothered with these as the ship is only 0.2mm wider on K than it is on I.

The Halfcrown, Florin and Sixpence are all unconfirmed in Davies, they are all quite easy to find. The 1970 obverse 3 Halfpenny is a real tough one to find. Michael Freeman doesn't list it in his book, I think Gouby had it mentioned on his site but never had one listed for sale. I have only ever found one from dozens of 1970 proof sets I've had and I used to look on eBay before too and checked dozens and didn't find another. Freeman mentions 2 reverses for 1970 too paired with obvere 4, I and K, I have never bothered with these as the ship is only 0.2mm wider on K than it is on I.

A better indicator is the width of the rims, wide and narrow as with the observe. Best seen side by side.

The rims are the best indicator for the 56's obv and rev and the 67/68s obv, I didn't realise that there was a rim difference for reverses I and K. I'll have to have a look, thanks for the info.
