I have two 1967 pennies, both I would grade at AUNC and am not sure which to inclued into my collection. To be honest both will stay with me but I would like your opinions.

the first had black marks on our dear queen, but a good britania and less luster

Get rid of both you can get a BU for 50p

At the moment that is not really an option, I wont be getting any more coins for a while. Hence the question.

I'm leaning towards the 2nd one for now

It's up to you of course, but Peter's right - 1967 penny is the commonest predecimal coin by a long long way. There are loads around in BU condition and a dealer would have a cheek charging more than 50p for an example.

I'll send you a perfect one for free, as long as you promise to come back for the 1966 and other expensive 1960s penny dates!

If you have another perfect one I'll have one as well. Given the multitude of them around it's surprisingly difficult to find a top notch one.

That is very kind of you but I wouldn't want to put you out of pocket Chris.

I would choose the second one over the first without a doubt. That spot is really off putting.

Yes, has to be the second one! I could live with the nick, but not the hair die!

Take Chris up on his offer! I've just had a batch of EII coins delivered by him, and I'm genuinely, genuinely, excited! I guess they are all coins after all! :)

When I was a dealer, I couldn't give them away!!

I have tubes/unrolled coins enough to copper a church roof with a nice green hue.

Just part of my collecting/learning. :)

I did buy 40 Scottish 1/- coins in Ef+ but due to Ebay I will keep them (Declan had one) :)

0.99P and he sold it for a decent profit.

They were key coins 40 years ago.

Just looked up that transaction, Peter, September 2011. Turns out I sold it to a certain gazza-d....

I still have a sheet full of the buggers as well as my 1915 farthings.Back burner for now.

BTW happy spring to everyone.

Strawberries, new spuds and smelly wee asparagus.

Even the dog gets walked at 5am....best time of the year.

He is currently in the utility room because he stinks after ditch diving. :)

I've got about 30 of them, all as good as they get, from a sealed bag. I usually take a handful, select the best and scrap the rest (of the £5 canvass bags they come in). I was offered a mint sealed bag of 1200 today actually.

London Coins would probably slab them as BU95+ and sell them for a tenner!
