Rob Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Not at that price. It is worn quite a bit on both sides. I would have thought something in the £25-35 ballpark. On the plus side, it is remarkably free of edge knocks which makes it more desirable, so perhaps you could up it marginally. Edited April 14, 2013 by Rob Quote

Gratefully, I'm on the laptop for now! As Rob has mentioned, it has a superb edge, and every collector must have one! Welcome aboard, have a good read around the previous posts, there's plenty to learn, and maybe post some pictures up of your new coin when it arrives! Quote
Coinery Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Hi whats up with the number 9, die blockage maybe?Pretty common on these coins to find blocked dies. There was always so much stray copper around, it's a miracle the problem was never worse, really! Quote

It's a nice mid-grade example - some wear, not too much, good rim. Worth the price it went for, I'd say. Only blemish is that 9 but that's not really bad. Quote

And it's been enlarged double size in Photoshop which doesn't do it any favours either.) Quote

Ironically, in view of the CGS debate, the nicest one I've ever had I got slabbed, and then felt somehow detached from it, so ultimately let it go!I don't currently have a nice example myself, more is the shame! I hardly ever look at my few slabbed coins because they are not with the others, and I am starting to lose touch with them ... increasingly I won't care if I sell them, which I never would have believed pre-slabbing!! RChris Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The only two slabbed pennies I've bought I cracked open - hate the things with a passion! Where's the pleasure in not being able to touch your coins - I just don't get it. If it's all about value, I'll be dead before my coins are sold so I don't care what they realise when I'm gone. My only experience with CGS has been an enquiry about the 1919KN they've had on offer for ages. It was £3K about a year ago but when I enquired about and made a £2K offer I had no reply and the next time I looked they'd put it up to £3250! I also pointed out that an example they sold in a previous auction for half the price looked better than this one which they reckon is "the finest known"....I had no reply to that either. Quote
