RLC35 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Greg, Being from the USA, I was constantly mis-grading the coins of Great Britain. I really enjoy having the "Standard Guide to Grading English Coins". It is a great reference. Quote

Greg Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 100% good recommendations on this book I can see! Very glad I made the purchase on it. Now I need to just be patient and wait for the book to arrive. Tend to be quite a book worm! lol. Quote
The Future Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 It is a great book. Just one minor negative; it took a while for me to quickly find the reverse I wanted to look for. The reverses are sorted by design rather than chronologically or by denomination. I agree its the best way to concisely include all the coins but an index would have been useful for me. Quote

The reverses are sorted by design rather than chronologically or by denomination. I agree its the best way to concisely include all the coins but an index would have been useful for me.It is pretty much sorted chronologically, but within main design type, so all the Britannias are together, and all the 'lion on crowns', etc. Some reverses were recycled, the best known being the Victorian Jubilee Head florin, by George V. Once you know what the wear points are for that reverse, having the George V would be a little redundant. However, others suggest there is an index, or table of contents? Quote
The Future Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 What you really need is on Page 95!Yes, an index would not add much more value, silly idea. Quote
Gary Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Excellent book that all Coin collectors/Dealers should have and abide by. I bought this book after collecting for over 20 years and still got useful information from it. Highly recommended ref book. Quote
