Only the 1 House Rob?...even I'm on a few more. :)

Uh, more than one. It's the second this year, hence the reduced coin activity of late. I'm a bloke and thus can't multitask which is probably a good thing given the prices at Spink today. I was informed today during the course of the sale thatby working on the house I was in the right place, as attending the sale or bidding online would have been very depressing and/or impoverishing. £165K for the Mary ryal, £36K each for the R3 angel and Briot unite, £6K for the Harold 2 Chichester penny, £18K for the Alfred penny with legend around the bust. Big numbers for the special pieces, though the average bits were eminently affordable.

Yikes :o My Spink is a couple of years old but the top price for ryal is £62.5k !!!!

At those prices I would hide yourself down at Wickes....

I wonder what DNW is going to do today?

Liz I coinage selling well

Unbelievable! The two I was most interested in went for more than 3x estimate! Estimate 5-600, my top bid £1k, hammer price in excess of £1500!

Think I'm gonna start collecting Charles shillings, they seem to be about right...some nice coins going at reasonable prices!

On the up-side, I know where my upgraded coins are going! ;)

Prices have been strong on the hammered, Elizabeth I sticks out as over top end on most. I've managed to get 3 lots but was bailing out early on

It was a fecking bloodbath

I was popping on and off and estimates for anything decent were wiped with the open gam.bits

Wow, NEW RECORCD FOR CHURCHILL CROWNS - 3300 pounds plus the juice!!!!

That was the one I was interested in. Got one bid in at £2400 which was still about what I had set as a limit. Bit of an odd one that. Not really a satin proof, actually one of the original trial pieces.

I am wondering what an "ordinary" Satin proof/specimen would go for now? I did not feel the estimate bad, but surprised that interest buoyed it up so high. Hate to say it Gary, but I also was in the hunt but was brushed aside by the bidding as it headed toward 3k.

My recall is that Satins were generally going when they came up for 1200 or so, and in a related vein, DNW sold THE ONLY 1937 matte proof crown that I am aware of in private hands (ex-Norweb) for 3.2 k just a couple of years ago...

Oh, well, I've a nice one of those on ebay right now. Very reasonable price, though I do say so myself!
