Paulus Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Another recent acquisition, Eddie 7 can be difficult, and some like toned and some not, what would you fine people offer for this one (theoretically)?I wont be offended! Quote
Nick Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Another recent acquisition, Eddie 7 can be difficult, and some like toned and some not, what would you fine people offer for this one (theoretically)?I wont be offended!Very little, I'm afraid. There were more 1910 shillings minted than any other Edward VII date. I would suggest you wait for a better one. Quote

Peter Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 The grade is difficult to assess from the picture. However a good price would be £35 ish for EF to £75 UNC.Apart from 1905...1903,04 or 08,09 are the better dates. Quote

Value would be about £5-10 depending on how you sold it. Edited April 25, 2012 by argentumandcoins Quote
Peckris Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I'd say GVF or +, but it looks as though it's been polished at some time, unless that's the photo. I'd grab it if it was one of the scarcer years but not a '10. Quote
Peter Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 This is no bargain but top price really.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GB-1910-EDWARD-VII-SHILLING-NEAR-UNC-/200706107541?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item2ebb042895#ht_1325wt_1397 Quote

So Paulus' coin - just looking at wear alone - is very close to that. Flattening on the upper beard, and hair above the ear. But the reverse shows very little flattening, and Edward's ear is only just beginning to flatten. I'm not happy about the possible cleaning history though. Quote

Reverse front paw of lion, and hair and beard detail of bust, all looks a little bit beyond near UNC to me. Without the in-hand experience, I wouldn't even buy at EF (£60 would be my very top price on this one), i'd be trying to catch it for something under that, really, hoping to have a nice surprise, maybe? I still use eBay a lot, the risk element is all part of the game I think, I have had some real bargains and paid over the odds for others, and as for the 2 forgeries in January, well ...!As for the 1910 shilling that started this thread, I was pleased to upgrade from my gF to something with some eye appeal, and will again one day ... I paid £16, which some believe is over the odds and others don't seem to! I like it anyway, however common! Quote
