azda Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 This is 1 of 4 coins i got from a German auction. Weight is correct, the dia should be 38.6mm this is 38.75 give or take. I'll photograph the rim in the morning to show you why i'm concerned about it, but for now, can anyone see anything wrong with it?Sorry in advance for the big pix, these are for attribution purposes Peck Quote
azda Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Ok, so these next 2 pix was why i was a little nervous about this coin. I'm begining to think that it might be normal on this crown as i though the 2 lines were at opposite ends of each other, they are in fact at the begining of the ET TUTAMEN and end of the same. Am i right in thinking its the norm as i've never had a Crown so don't really know. Quote

The edge collar can be quite variable - my 1893 is distinctly different in character than my 1900. Not a cause for undue worry I think. None of that series is rare, and therefore not subject to the forger's art IMO. By the way, your pictures resized for my screen, like everyone else's do. Did you upload them using a different method than normal? Quote
£400 for a Penny ? Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 can anyone see anything wrong with it?Yes - it isn't a penny. Quote
Hussulo Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 It looks kosher, though very possibly cleaned. I agree, it could be the saturation or the colour of your pictures but it looks too white, almost like it has been dipped too many times. Quote
Peter Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 The more I look at the reverse the smaller the horse seems compared to St George....and the dragon is the size of a cat. Quote

azda Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 I took the picture on the balcony of my spanish villa retreat, maybe its the spanish sun Quote

But it should retone, one would hope. Quote
