Geoff T Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I think some people are missing the point here. Of course it's nowhere near uncirculated, but given the comparitive rarity of the 1932 florin (a point which seems to have escaped the seller) even in that condition it could prove a bargain.G Quote
wybrit Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Good point about it being a bargain - for the moment. Even in poor condition it's probably worth £6-£9. Quote
custard1966 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 This guy's a real jokerHe posted thishttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EX-RARE-1843-VICTORI...1QQcmdZViewItemas lustrous UNCI pointed out to him that it wasn't even fine, so he downgraded it to fine and cut the start price from £400 to £40 - which is still optimistic. Now he's back with this (Proof!) gemhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/QUEEN-VICTORIAN-1853...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote

TomGoodheart Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Gaaaak!!! What the hell do you think he's done with them - tumble dried with a can of Brasso or just a blow-torch and sandblasted!???As for his 1919 Queen Victorian penny!! Words fail me.... Quote
krasnaya_vityaz Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 My gawd, can someone please plonk this guy and put him out of his misery? Quote
wybrit Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 (edited) This one will have ended by the time most of you read it, but it is rather amusing - and probably illegal. It was posted on CU, but thought you might get a laugh out of this:ebay and loan sharks? Edited March 1, 2006 by wybrit Quote
Sylvester Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Very well written description isn't it. Uniquely presented i'd say. But hey at least they told the truth. Quote
Sylvester Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Ahhh the old zero feedback routine.I know that we all had to start somewhere, but having had timewasters and scammers with zero feedback,I'm more than a little wary now when selling.I smell a rather large decaying rat here...... Shill bidding. Quote
Coppers Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 A tad optimistic 1862 halfpennyI wonder what reserve this seller placed on this coin. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 What really annoys me is when people use pictures with acres of space around the coin. I get emails like this, that are huge in size because the coin is a small dot in the middle of a vast desert of nothing! Is it really too difficult to use MS Paint or any simple graphics package to trim around the coin! Quote
Emperor Oli Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 EeshWould you really rest a coin like that on a rough piece of wood? Quote
Rob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 EeshWould you really rest a coin like that on a rough piece of wood? Maybe, the vendor probably isn't happy with the UNDELIMO edge Quote
Sylvester Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Looks a bit like that one Lawrence Chard had. Quote
Geordie582 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Seems my linked site has been removed. Pity, as it advertised an English Charles VI coin. (a Charles I 6pence)! Quote
wybrit Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) How about a 1916 penny graded MS60? Edited March 14, 2006 by wybrit Quote
wybrit Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Or a nice uncirculated 1889 halfcrown with a lovely rich tone? Quote
Geordie582 Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Both of those bring back memories of my early service int he RAF - and Brasso! Quote
Rob Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 How about a 1916 penny graded MS60? Maybe MS60 stands for mostly smooth, say 60% Quote
