Me too ! I got the rarity rating wrong though..Its not R19 its Gouby R9.. I can only find information about one other known example. But there is probably more out there ! The other known example is much better condition than the coin I have purchased. The type is clear as day in the seller's images but Im going to wait until I receive the coin before sharing anything. I also only want to share my own images to avoid any reverse image searches.

BP1860Jb (Gouby D+d; Freeman 2+D) – V over inverted A in VICTORIA

You seem to be talking about this coin on two threads , it really only needs one. How about photos so it can be verified and included on the database, which will make it more attractive. It really is quite hard to believe that you have found all these great rarities in only a couple of weeks when hundreds of highly knowledgeable collectors are looking out for them - you haven’t just bought someones collection? Are you a collector or a dealer? Most of us on this forum know a fair bit about each other (including in many cases our actual names) as members of quite a small community. At the moment you are just a moniker.

I had thought the same - one great rarity would be very lucky, two would be incredible, more than two seems ... odd?

In another post he mentions he’s a beginner, 12 weeks into the hobby. Fair play that he’s navigating all the auction archives, retrieving past sales, in-touch with all the literature, and holding his own in the variety conversations, all in such a short window.

You simply have to take your hat off to him/her, that’s very, very impressive!

Several of the his claimed discoveries (e.g. the 1875H and VIGTORIA pennies) have turned out to be not what he thought, so maybe it's just newbie enthusiasm.

I started this thread and while waiting for the coin to arrive I found the other thread on the subject and thought it was appropriate to comment.

🤣 delear?  I'm a complete beginner collector and have not purchased a collection.

I'm searching for varities 11hrs+/ day 7 days a week. Even if I sold what I have so far including the higher value coins I'm proably on much less than min wage for the time I have invested.

When is the next coin fair Jerry you will attend and I will happily come and meet you and bring my coins aswell. Not sure how you can confuse me as a pro given all the mistakes I have made and questions, and its not as if Im selling any of the coins I'm finding...

Hear this; the harder I work the luckier I become and hard work beats talent. I'm not having a quick glance at a few dealers websites Im searching the world Jerry 24/7 and sometimes more than 11hrs a day.

The reality is the coins are out there to be found, how intensively are you prepared to search for them? Ofcourse a little bit of luck and chance is involved. But I have worked bloody hard to find what I have.

Him 😊I really appreciate that thanks! As I say above you get out what you put in.

Understand the drive and motivation when a rare coin is discovered for nothing. It makes me search longer and more intensively after each find.

Without @secret santa and his site I would not have found what I have simple as that. This single resource of information has proven to be highly useful its all I use if I'm honest. I have the Freeman book but I dont use it. Richard's site is far easier to use as its all in digital. I use it all day everyday! I owe you a pint Richard. I would happily make a donation given how much Im using it.

@jelida If you are that interested you can see my real name on Richards site, im not hiding anything for me its an honour to have my name next to rarities such as the F90 on there. As I have said above I have worked bloody hard for that.

So I wont comment on the other thread now @jelida here is what lead me to beleive the coin was BP1860Jb (Gouby D+d; Freeman 2+D) – V over inverted A in VICTORIA  from the sellers images. I received the coin and annoyingly the crossbar is not visible only a faint line from one low angle using a loupe, so its not BP1860Jb. To my surprise😂 LCW is visible under Britannias foot, I know you couldnt make it up. If I hadnt of mistaken the V over inverted A and didnt purchase the coin £5.40 I now wouldnt own a BP1860M3 LCW below Britannia’s foot.

In a way I suppose its kind of compliment but maybe also a tad rude to suggest I'm being dishonest with these discoveries. If you are not putting in the legwork it doesn't mean other's aren't. With all due respect I invite you to invest a bit more time in looking for what you want. And maybe you will have some luck.

Congratulations on finding a good one!

Thanks Mike, it is good to have a name and know a little more about you - we do get some odd types on the forum occasionally, people join for various reasons but it’s good to know you are a genuine collector. Your latest find of the F14 is also a good one, you see them occasionally on EBay and in the auctions but not often  and the circumstances of the find show that your run of luck continues!
The next coin fair that I will attend - I almost always do - is the Midland Coin Fair on the second Sunday of each month, details online. It would be good to meet you and talk rarities - I have had many penny rarities unrecognised at the MCF over the years, and of course on eBay and also from foreign dealers and auctions - a look at Richards site will show that - and yes indeed they are still out there and you clearly put the hours in. If you do want to build up a representative penny collection don’t forget the commoner coins too, and the coin fair is an excellent place to find those, often at very fair prices.
