absence of uniformity Posted Wednesday at 05:33 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:33 PM (edited) Would anyone have a copy for sale please? Are all the Penny varieties covered? Did Michael write a book which covers only Penny types and die pairings. How much info was added to the 5th edition? The British Bronze Coinage: Pence, Halfpence and Farthings 1860 - 1869 (5th Edition) by Michael Gouby Loose Leaf, 60 Pages, Published 2006 ISBN-10: 0-948855-11-8 / 0948855118 ISBN-13: 978-0-948855-11-5 / 9780948855115 many thanks ! secret santa Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM It's not really a paperback - it's A4 pages held in a ring binder. 1 Quote
jelida Posted Wednesday at 07:44 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:44 PM It doesn’t really cover the varieties at all, more to do with the history behind the coinage and details of its manufacture. Michael is still advertising it on his website Michael Coins. For pennies he has a book purely on the Victorian penny series and it’s worth enquiring as to availability, that does cover the varieties. The latest Freeman also covers most significant varieties but not the minutiae. Also possibly out of print, but these do appear occasionally on EBay. Don’t forget that the commoner issues are all still ‘varieties’ and by no means all are easy to find. Jerry Quote

Jerry Note the publisher, Chris Perkins, has just posted on another thread on this topic, there are a few copies of the current Freeman available on the link he provides. Essential reference, and not expensive. Jerry Quote
SilverAge3 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Yes, get the Freeman book, esp as the new edition is available once again, although the prior edition is extremely useful, and an industry standard. 1 Quote
