The first £1 coins featuring King Charles III are entering circulation this week.

Almost three million coins have been issued to post offices and banks across the country.

The coins mark the King's new reign and celebrate his love of the natural world, with the reverse side featuring a pair of bees.

Even as the King becomes a familiar sight on coins, those featuring Queen Elizabeth II will remain in circulation. New sets of coins are struck in response to demand.

"It is an honour to reveal that King Charles III’s £1 coin is now in circulation," said Rebecca Morgan, director at the Royal Mint.

"We know there’ll be a buzz of excitement amongst collectors and the public to get this special piece of history in their change."

FIRST TO SCAN ONE AND PUT THE PICTURE ON HERE WINS!

Well that sounds like one 'ell of a challenge !😉

But, how are you going to be sure it's not one from one of the year sets already released being scanned and posted...

copying off the internet is bad form :( you can tell from a left click can't you

the year set coins have a mint mark as well

Hey it's only a bit of fun there is no prize at the end of it  - I would expect them to be found in one of our big cities like Birmingham or -Manchester - Glasgow or Coventry, they usually get released in these places

I released some old pound  coins back into the wild a couple of years back,

and I made sure I was away from major roads, and on the edge of some woodland.

The 2024 ones don't which is what I imagine are being released - see below.

I haven't found this one in circulation by the way, so no claim to the prize/bragging rights, but many are for sale on ebay etc.

I reckon that unless you make an effort to get bags of coins from banks, then it will probably be a couple of months before you get one in change due to initial hoarding.

I have got my first Charles III £20 note yesterday. It's over 2 months since they were first released and the higher value notes are less likely to be hoarded.

The thing is if people has got one in change, they would likely to keep it for a bit and so there will be a very limited number in circulation. People will get bore after a while.

Actually, the circulation ones being released are 2023 after all, and they too don't have mintmarks... So only the set ones from 2023 are mintmarked, and none thereafter, it seems.

Not sure if @Martinminerva's last post fulfilled the challenge, but this one today in change from my butcher's in North Devon:
