copper123 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Another of her great boobs was telling the tory conference we import 70% of our cheese (it is in fact 7%) a quick check on google would have told her she was making an idiot of herself in front of millions . Maybe we should rename her the tory dianne abbot Quote

Maybe we should rename her the tory dianne abbot Just shows you how many politicians just spout hot air and haven't actually researched and fully understood their subject. A few years ago one MP was caught out when doorstepping before an election, and defending EU regulations on using metric measurement. They then discussed something else. Just as he was about to leave, the householder asked him what his height and weight was, "Oh, 6' 2" and about 14 stone" came the reply. Then the householder asked him what that was in metres and kilograms - stumped !!! 1 Quote

Unless of course they count DAirylea as cheese (surely not? ) Quote

Paddy Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I think 7% is likely to be right. A lot of what we think of as imported cheeses are actually now made in the UK. Certainly much supermarket Brie and Camembert is made in Somerset. I suspect most Feta and Halloumi is also now UK made. Quote
Rob Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 The amount of Cheddar consumed in this country must dwarf all the other types put together. As prevalent as other British or foreign cheeses are, there is no way they are consumed on a regular basis by most people who will have Cheddar in most instances, whether a block or grated. It's cheap and cheerful, and crucially, affordable by all. We bought some Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire recently from the farm, and they make as much cheese as their cows produce milk for - a couple hundred kg a day. There are fewer than 10 farms making Lancashire cheese. That's b****r all. Quote
copper123 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I must admit having a soft spot for french soft cheese , not as high in fat as most cheese as well Quote
