azda Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Vickysilver has asked me to post a couple of coins and see if you can guess the grade, it might be good practise to leave your hollered coins here eventually to see if anyone can get it right (without looking them up of course) This is one from VS Quote

VickySilver Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Those pennies are both copper nickle strikes, they are IMO graded very low but quite beautiful without wear or ticks. Give up a couple of grade guesses and I'll post tomorrow. Quote
Nick Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I would say that the 1967 is slightly higher grade than the 1965, although not quite as good a strike. Can't see any reason why either would be less than MS 64. Quote

CGS had a table of their grades and their equivalents on the LCs website, i think it's since been taken down, but if you hit the link below you"ll see the American grades and the British equivalent along with the others from other various European countries http://www.pcgseurope.com/grading/comparison?l=en Quote

I can read very little Japanese and hope that I haven't translated too badly: Sheldon Japanese Grade My Translation AG3 収集不適品 Not suitable for collection MS63 未使用品 Goods that have never been used MS66 完全未使用品 Completely unused goods MS68 空前絶後品 Never seen before and will never see again Edited September 4, 2016 by Sword Quote
VickySilver Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Well, the 1965 was graded 64 and the 1967 at 62. I can't for the life of me see friction, dings, hits, wear, or other damages. They do not downgrade for off-metal strikes (OMS). I have a pet collection of these, some errors, and some patterns. If anybody ever had decent specimens, I'm always glad to give them a go (shameless spamming there!). Quote
Guest Parma Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Both sides look in the same condition. I am saying UNC would you agree? What number would you give it? Quote
pokal02 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 So the Sheldon scale goes straight from F35 to EF40? What happened to VF? Quote
coinkat Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 The Sheldon scale has a VF range that extends from VF20 to VF35 Quote
pokal02 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 That's what I thought... so the LC conversion scale is wrong & should read VF30 and VF35. Quote
