SWANNY Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Has this coin been cleaned or dipped , why is the surface like it is ? Quote
ozjohn Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Overall a nice reverse bright while still retaining some mint lustre and some small nicks and scratches. No real evidence of cleaning as such but as to dipping who can tell if it is done well. With adding the caution if in doubt do not dip. Quote
VickySilver Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Dipped. This coin by photo has actually IMO lost some of its original lustre even though bright. Has a bit of a bleached appearance which overlapping may do - not just remove toning.... 1 Quote

I would normally expect these coins to show some 'life' like this: Edited January 22, 2016 by Paulus 1 Quote

I would also be in The dipped camp, lustre seems to be Strippen from Parts of The coin and possibly legt a Little too long As can be seen from just beging The back legs of The horse. Seems to be high grade though, Leaving it by The window a few months might help it retone quicker. 1 Quote
